1000th Post Something Special

So I figured for the 1000th I would do a nice meal and post it. Well what I did not expect is the 33 year old Sears Brand kettle rotted through on the bottom where one of the vents is. The bowl itself has been warped for ten years but I made do. But now the she is leaking through the bottom.
It's time.
Last cook on her tonight, better be a good one.

So a mix of lump and used charcoal in the starter

A little sad about this too. My last pint of the best beer I have had for awhile. Hope they got more in.

So, some well seasoned Gus, EVOO celery salt fresh ground black and some granulated garlic on the grill

A little heat management

Main course on, some fresh in sea scallops, wrapped in prosciutto, drizzled with evoo, Old Bay, and lemon zest

Done and heading in

The CEO made a fabulous salad, most from her garden. Superb combo

Your plate, enjoy

Oh, so that her shoes would be filled, I have a Weber 22 One Touch OTG coming in next week. Ordered her through this site.

Bill what a great way to "retire" a grill. Congrats on the 1000 posts and I look forward to many more from you. You always seem to do it right.

Great as always Bill! I am also looking forward to your future posts with the new grill. My hat is off to the CEO, she and I cook a lot of the same things, maybe because we are both Italian :) Loved the post you had of the graduation party food, reminded me of the ones in my family.

Thanks Regina i will let her know, my little Italian CEO is a phenomenal cook. I have an huge family and dozens of friends, all local who think that the world will come to an end if she stops cooking the multi generation food she cooks.

Not that I'm telling you what to do, but here's what *I* would do. Cancel that order and get one of these. Great price since they list for $299

Great lookin cook. I haven't done scallops on the grill as I'm not much of a seafood guy. But my wife is and maybe I'll treat her this weekend. :)
Thanks for the inspiration.

I'm good Chad but thanks for the heads up. i paid $ 149 with free shipping. Plus a Weber cover for $ 8.00. I don't need the side tables it just takes up room for me.

33 Years is a long time. Now divide what you paid for the grill by 33. Not bad eh?
Nice meal to finish it on.
Is that tray solid copper or plated? It looks neat.

Congrats on the 1000 posts Bill and on the new grill. This was a great looking meal as always. You should bronze the old girl. She's done you well!!

She has done well for so many get togethers, parties family events etc. for years. I don't know about getting her bronzed but she will be missed. I am looking forward to the larger cook area and easier to clean out ashes..
To all things their time. She has a lot more than her time. I bought her in 1979. She has now gone out in style, I let the lump burn out on it's own with no cover on.

Bill Schultz;
Wonderful lookin' cook, and a great final party for the old Weber. You sure cannot say that Weber doesn't produce great equipment!
