So I have been rehabbing a '96 Genesis 1000 which has been chronicled here
It was buttoned up as a "Faux Skyline" when I came across yet another grill, a redhead. I took the redhead home and put the lid on what used to be the Faux Skyline (don't worry, I have several extra lids). I now have another grill to work on.
Here's the redhead donor:
A couple things to note:
1) NO casters, only 2 wheels
2) Shallow cookbox (five 22.5" flavorizer bars)
3) The burners/control panel appear to be compatible with 2002+ Genesis Silver models
4) ONE frame connector tube tying the 2 legs together and not 2.
The serial number comes back as a 1998 Spirit 900, I guess similar to Jeff MA's Spirit 700 but with wooden tables.
Interestingly enough, the legs are drilled for 2 frame connector tubes, and I happen to have an extra connector tube lying around, so I "converted" it to 2 tubes this evening.
Not that there was anything wrong with the 1 tube system, but making this change also lets me add a Genesis Silver wire shelf.
More pics to follow.
