Smoked Salt

Decided to give this a try after watching a couple videos, I also am sold on the amazin maze-type smoker after seeing it in action - it just seems easy.

This is a fine mesh bottom on that pan, & that's some Himalayan sea salt but that ground up fine like powdered sugar in my mini prep processor, so I ran it through a few streams of water & stirred it up, & then put it on 3 layers of foil. Kosher is in the round "pan".

Very neat pics and video. From your comments sounds like you got good smoke flavor to the salt. I've never tried smoked salt but I bet it will be tasty.

Bought a small tub of smoked salt at a little shop in Oregon. Use it occasionally and it has a nice smoky flavor. Yours looks like a fun process to try.

Sounds great Clint, Been wanting to make a batch of hickory smoked salt and some lightly smoked mesquite smoked salt.

Try putting some peppercorns in there the next time you smoke. Wonderful flavor in pepper too. We smoke our salt and use it when preparing Gravlax. Gives a hint of smoke to the salmon without even breaking out the smoker.
