Thanks Jon! Have you found an easy way to tighten down the lid handle? Mine still moves even after it’s tight.

Thanks Bruce. Yes I will remove the end caps starting with the Genesis 3000 I am working on. I never thought of touching those boots unless the end caps were coming off and in need of replacement. I’ll let you know how it goes!

    My Skyline Restoration Pics

Hello everyone. I wanted to share some pictures of my first Skyline restoration. I was in Las Vegas on business and happened to find this grill for sale on Offer Up. I happened to drive and it worked out great because I was able to just pick up the grill from a nice couple. I had fun working on...

Another quick question: I can’t seem to get my skyline lid handle not to slide even after being tightened. The slots are oval shaped in the handle and I just can’t get it get it to tighten. Do any of you...

    Skyline Restore Question

Hello Everyone. I tried doing a search first but could not find so I thought I’d ask. I am in the middle of a Skyline Resto and had 2 quick questions. Is it still ok to use simple green and 0000 Steel Wool to clean a Skyline Lid without damaging the Skyline logo? Also I am missing one of the...

    First Restore: Genesis Red Head

Hello everybody. Just want to share photos of my first restoration. I was able to pick this grill up for $40. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. It needed a lot of work, however. This was very challenging because I did not have most of the tools needed to complete this task. I had...

Good morning all. I searched this site and did not see so I was hoping I can seek guidance on a topic. I am heading down the home stretch of my 1100 Red Head rebuild and I will be putting together the wood slats this weekend. While I am somewhat clear on the wood below the firebox, can someone...

From Drab to Fab - Putting together a "How-To" Restoration Guide

Hello Dave any advice on the staining and varnishing process? I sanded and stained successfully. I applied the first coat of spar varnish which went great until I flipped it over and some of the spar varnish dripped under the underside. Now every side looks great except the underside there are...

Hello Dave thank you. You mentioned 5/16 wood screws . I assume these are to hold the wood slats to the Z-bar correct? if so is there a particular length?. I need to go out today and buy the screws. The screws that I took out , believe it or not, were a mixture of different screws. I’m just...

From Drab to Fab - Putting together a "How-To" Restoration Guide

Hello All, I just replaced the propane hose on my 90's Genesis 1100. I screwed it into the brass elbow fitting under my manifold. When I did a soap test, I found a leak here. The factory brass elbow is cracked. Can I just get a new one at a hardware store or is it a specialty item? Just because...
