I wish those custom ones were still being made, I guess i"m going to make my own!

As much as I'd love to buy a SNS for my 26" kettle, I can't justify the $150 price when I already have a pellet smoker. I do need new charcoal baskets though. It looks like Weber doesn't make a larger basket for the 26", does anyone? Is there a favorite aftermarket charcoal basket?

I finally broke down and bought one. Got it for $297 no tax or shipping. It gets here next week!

See, I’m excited by the stainless steel grate. I don’t see the appeal of the inserts. I guess it’s just not for me.

Nothing wrong with black. But I have a perfectly good normal size kettle, a Blaz’n Grillworks pellet smoker, an outdoor gas grill, and a grill built into my range. Even with my very understanding wife, I can’t just buy another grill without having a reason!

Huh? Can you explain more? My "real" smoker is a pellet grill. I use that for all of my long cooks, I got the kettle more to play.

I thouoght about running it out of the lid vent, but I like being able to open the lid without dealing with the wires. BFletcher isn't wrong either. There's a reason this is a thread about my irrational upgrades!

I can control the natural exhaust through the top vent. I'm stuck with the leak through the gap.

I just ordered a temp probe port to add to my kettle. I was surprised at how much smoke was leaking out from where the lid stepped on the cables.

What do you use the vortex for?

I think I'm in the minority but I'm not a fan of cast iron grates. I have GrillGrates on my gasser and stainless on my other grills.

I bought a Weber mastertouch. It bothers me that the grate on it isn't stainless steel, I also don't like the GBS system. I don't need a hole in the middle of my grill. So I ordered the stainless steel grate. I also bought a Tel-Tru to replace the dome thermometer out of principle. It bothers...

Am I missing something? I just ordered one yesterday from Weber:

I wish they'd included the crossover bars. Seems like it'd be safer that way too.

I always thought the cross over was to make sure the burners light if you turn on a second or third after igniting.
