4 butts for son's grad party

Thanks fellas. Good tips by all. By the way, the butt I did yesterday, made awesome pulled pork sandwiches with Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce and a blob of coleslaw on a pretzel bun. Today was smoked pork soft tacos with carnitas sauce. Good lord that was good eating. Lots of leftovers too...

4 butts for son's grad party

Ok fellas, I've done a few butts on my 18.5 WSM. Only one at a time, they always turn out great. My wife asked if I could do 4 butts for our son's graduation party. I thought, Heck Yeah! Cool. Then I thought, uh oh, I've only done 1 at a time, not 4. So, I like to smoke em with apple wood...

First cook (Ribs) with my 18.5 WSM

Thanks for the info Len. I'll see what I can get set up. I've got a 9 lb Pork Picnic Shoulder thawing right now. I was thinking of going with the water on this to keep the temps low and smoke it with hickory and apple. A nice pulled pork burrito sounds pretty tasty. Thanks Carl for your...

First cook (Ribs) with my 18.5 WSM

I did a small 12 pound turkey yesterday. Apple wood, a little smokehouse rub, 325 degrees and it was done in a little over two hours. I'm not much of a dark meat fan so I just cut off the breasts and sliced it up for my teenage boys. (Wife is out of town for 4 days). One of the boys, who is...

First cook (Ribs) with my 18.5 WSM

Thanks for the tips and comments fellas. I'd post pics but don't know how to yet. I'm taking the turkey out of the fridge. The thought of a smoked turkey sounds great. Why kind of rub do you guys use for poultry? I only have the one rub that I used for the ribs. I suppose I could use that...

First cook (Ribs) with my 18.5 WSM

Well I jumped in with both feet today. Cranked up two racks of St. Louis style ribs. Last night I cleaned them off, pulled the membrane, mustard all over then some Sweet Rub o Mine stuff. Sat over night in the fridge and got them on the smoker this morning. 2.5 hours of smoke with 3 apple...

Brand New 18.5 ready for work

Hey Gents, I just got my new 18.5 wsm put together and ran one load of coals through it for a dry run . I wanted to see how the temp gauge reacted compared to my CDN probe thermometer. I'm really stoked now to get some meat going. My wife wants a smoked turkey for Easter and gave me the green...

    Jeff in the PNW

Hey Gents, I just picked up my 18.5 WSM today. Of course other projects around the house kept me from putting it together, but I'm hoping to crank it up this week. I was going to just do a dry run just to play with the temps. My family likes pulled pork and ribs. I think we have a pack of...
