Hood Flop - Cookbox Disaster - Ideas

I do have the broken pieces. It seems that a repair job/mending is made difficult because those locations on the cooking box are the key "stopping" areas that hold up the hood. Meaning, lots of pressure. Not sure what/if there is a good repair proposition regarding this self-inflicted mistake...

Hood Flop - Cookbox Disaster - Ideas

I think we have rescued 3 webers in recent years. Purchased another one. I have always just loaded them into the back of a van/truck. Never thought to secure the hood and take it off. Isn't that crazy? By chance, I got them home without doing this type of damage. Lesson learned.

Hood Flop - Cookbox Disaster - Ideas

Ok, this is what I was looking for. 2000-2005 weber silver/gold. I think this will be my plan. I'll keep hunting and then mix and match. Sounds like a plan. Thank you.

Hood Flop - Cookbox Disaster - Ideas

That was my other question. As I hunt for a swap out box, will any 2005 (or era) gold/silver genesis work? All same size?

Hood Flop - Cookbox Disaster - Ideas

Went to pick up a 2005 Genesis Gold yesterday (free) for a family member. Looked pretty good from the start. As we were loading the grill into the truck, the hood flew open and cracked/broke the cookbox in two spots (see pics). In a split second, this happened, unfortunately. Brought her home...

Meijer Pork Butts $.99 per lb.

I was just thrilled to be able to keep the temp in that range for 10 hours! I have done chicken, beef ribs and turkey breast recently and had my temps all over the place! Too high. Too low. etc. This one really went well on Saturday. Very happy with every aspect. The only negative was we...

Meijer Pork Butts $.99 per lb.

10 hours later, here is the result. Used Pecan and bourbon soaked oak for the smoke. Everything went well. Maintained temps between 225-250 the entire day. Snuck slightly over 250 a couple times but I caught it quickly.

    Chicken on the WSM

Well, threw the 2 whole chickens on the 22.5" WSM Friday around 11AM. I was cutting wood during the entire time the chicken was on the WSM. I checked on it every 20 minutes or so, as the smoker was about 50 ft from my tree cutting location. I used the rub recipie found on the TVW web forum...

    Chicken on the WSM

I have 2 whole birds from the local butcher sitting in my fridge. Picked them up for smoking tomorrow. This will be my first adventure with the WSM 22.5". Can't decide on whether to cook whole or half. Guess I'll flip a coin. Can't wait to enjoy the finished product. Thanks for the info in...

WSM Owners: Check-Out The Virtual Weber Bullet website

Just picked up a new WSM 22.5" (in the box) last week. Conditioning is complete and I'll look to fire it up for our first smoked meal sometime soon. Just starting to plow through all of the information on this website. Very informative.

    Genesis Gold

Thank you for the comments. I appreciate the feedback. I don't have a lot of room on my back patio, so I'm not sure if I can keep 2 back there. Wife probably won't be too thrilled, either. Decisions...

    Genesis Gold

Stumbled upon a Genesis Gold on the side of the road recently. Took me about half a second to turn around and load it up. Owners were giving it away for free, with a note saying that "parts will be needed." The ignitor looks like it is working. Burner will need to be replaced. I currently...
