    Heading to The Jack

Here's a few more pictures. The parade, Jasper, a shot of the back area, and we were heading back to our site after awards and getting a drink and came across a man walking by us in the dark and we recognized him and had to stop and congratulate him (and my wife just had to have a picture with...

    Heading to The Jack

Here's a picture of our site. We had a great time, but didn't do so well. We finished 67 out of 93, but it was the 13th contest that we've ever cooked in and there were a lot of very good teams.

    Heading to The Jack

Earlier this year we won the GC (our first) at the Miles City Cowtown Cook-Off in Montana and we got the Jack draw for home state team. We are the first Montana team to be invited to The Jack and looking forward to the experience. We were competing in Gillette, WY during the draw and there...

    Heading to the Royal

We will be heading to the Royal as rookies also. We plan to cook in both since we are already there and had to pay for the Open for entry to the Invitational. We'll try to get around but plan on being overwhelmed.

Montana BBQ Cook Off, Absarokee, MT

My team, Grate Expectations, cooked at the Montana BBQ Cook Off in Absarokee, MT this weekend and ended up with a 6th in chicken, 3rd in ribs, 1st in pork (second competition in a row), and 12th in brisket ending up with 3rd overall with 29 teams competing. Upfront, I'm not a purist, my chicken...

    Hello from Montana

I do brisket on one and pork on the other, usually I'll have room to move things around if I need to once things are wrapped to put the ribs on one. I do cheat on the chicken as I use my Green Mountain Grill for it. At that point, my charcoal has about had it and I don't have to worry about...

    Cowtown Cookoff Miles City, MT

Thanks. We were surprised because pork has been our weakest category.

    Cowtown Cookoff Miles City, MT

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have a competition team, Grate Expectations. Last weekend was the 2nd Annual Cowtown Cook-off in Miles City, MT. We cook on two 22" WSM's. There were few, if any, other teams with WSM's. It was a well run event and one of three state championships in Montana. There...

    Hello from Montana

Hello, been using a 22" WSM for years and this site has been a great source for information. Started a competition BBQ team last year and added a second 22" WSM.
