Genesis Junior - What to do?

So I have another thread where I'm trying to clear out my other BBQ's including my genesis silver B. I have on the side of my house a Genesis Jr. that came from my dad's lakehouse property. I'm just trying to figure out what I should do with this guy. I can't bring myself to take it to the...

    Genesis Silver B - What's it worth?

Well, it's time for me to clean up my pation and thin out the herd of BBQ's. I have a traeger which is do almost everything on, a weber Mini WSM for small smokes, and another smaller gas grill. The main gas grill that I really haven't used but once in the last 2 years is my Genesis Silver B...

    Heatermeter on battery success!

Well, I wish I took some pictures. This weekend I took my freshly built Mini WSM, Heatermeter and Rotodamper out camping to my autocross event. At about 5:30 AM, I fired up the coals, got the HM running, and put a 9.5lb shoulder on at 6AM. I set the temp to 250 degrees. The HM was running...

    Question about behavior

Ok, So I'm testing my Heatermeter with mini Mini WSM. This is what I'm seeing: I'm running with 10% blower on all the time and 20% startup max. When I had it set at 225 degrees, it was running perfect, but going to 250 causes this sinusoidal. This is with a Rotodamper, 3/4" inlet to the...

My first Mini - built and testing now!

First off, thanks to everyone in this forum for the ideas and examples. I bought a Smokey Joe Gold locally (my silver was 15 years old and too rusty to use). Took a while but I found a Barrington 32 quart steamer pot at a local Mexican Grocery for $28. The top had to be crimped, but...

    Servo shaking at 100%?

So I just printed my rotodamper, and and wired everything up. At 100% the fan blows at full speed, but the server starts twitching. At 90% or below the servo is good. Any ideas on this one? Thanks!

    Fried Pi?

So, I was testing out my new heatermeter SMD board I built, couldn't get anything to work, and I think I fried my Rpi A+. I realized I offset the pi to the right one row, which I believe would've put 3.3V straight into the I2C bus. I'm thinking that probably was bad. The RPI can't...

Interesting heatermeter-like controller using Spark Core

I thought this was pretty interesting: https://community.particle.io/t/smartbbq-wifi-controlled-4-probe-bbq-controller-with-blower-output/4776 The Spark core has now been replaced by the Photon, which is only $19. Seems like the heatermeter could be adapted on that platform possibly?

What can I strip off the board for using only as a temp monitor?

So if I want to just build heatermeters to monitor temps and do nothing else, what parts can I strip from the board? I'm thinking I should be able to delete: Q1, Q3, Q5 R14, R13, R19, R21, R10, R12, R15 C7, C12 L1 D2 LED1, LED2, LED3 I'd mainly like to keep all the probes, LCD, and alarm...

Issue with Pi A+ and Edimax nano?

Hello all, Along with the Edimax nano bending up the USB ports on my Pi A+'s in my heatermeters, I've had another issue. For some reason (I've tried this on 2 heatermeters) when I try to join them as clients to my network, they never show up and don't get IP's. I have to restore the original...

Heatermeter Wifi Issue - Pi A+

Ok, So I'm trying to get one of my HM 4.2.4's on a Wifi network and having some issues. At first it came up, I found heatermeter in SSID's. Tried to configure it to be a client on the network, but it never seemed to work properly after. Now I've re-imaged the SDHC card, and it gets an IP...

Broke two Pi A+'s USB ports

Well, I'm building all 3 of my heatermeters today. One is done and working and the other two now don't have functioning USB ports on the PI A+. Looks like my Edimax wifi adapter is bending the pins inside. I tried to bend them back on one pie and ended up breaking it off. At this point, I'm...

Need to build 3 heatermeter's.. advice on version?

Hello all, I recently completed my 4.2.4 with a Pi B, and my freinds all love it and want me to make them one. I'm assuming now the best way would be to use the A+, and if I should go with the 4.2.4 version or wait for the 5? Also, where is a place to source those 4 way switches if I choose...

Buzzer on HM 4.2.4 not working

So I just built my first heatermeter. The first time it powered up I heard a wierd dying beep from the speaker, and then the LCD powered up and the AVR was probably flashed and it all came to life. Everything works great, but I've never heard the beeper since. Does it work in the test alarm...
