I de-soldered the 12v to 5v board and then connected the 12v power to the HM. I am able to get 12v on my meter at the back barrel jack and from the and from the ground by the probes to the 12v + on the fan jack. So the 12 to 5v is probably DOA? - Steve

I looked over the board thru a 10x jewelers loupe and cannot see any solders that are touching or ones that don't look like good contact. I just expect I would get 12v somewhere on the board when connected even right at the jack, would a short or bad component give this kind of result. Sorry...

I removed the MCP-1700-33 after looking at a lot of pictures of the built units and not seeing it populated. I plugged in the 12v and it lit for a second then went dark. It still powers up via the PI. Not sure what to look at. - Steve
