I don't use my WSM(s) as often as I should, they spend months at a time in my shed. I don't have to worry about weather, but they sure get dusty. I pretty much do as Rick P explained above. I store them with the vents open so any stray moisture isn't trapped.

if you take apart a pair of charcoal baskets, you can use the straight sections as an expandable charcoal fence. This can be adjusted to whatever size you want your hot zone to be for any given cook. The curved sections can also be used to protect the bowl if you are worried about your porcelain.

I deleted the FlameCheck valve on a Genesis 5000 that I fixed up yesterday. Everything works fine without it. I had to buy a $2 brass fitting at Ace to adapt the regulator hose to the manifold.

My 26.75 OTG had a lot of wobble front to back. Although all of the sockets looked fine, one day the front socket popped right off. The spot welds looked very weak. I called Weber and they sent me a new bowl right away. The wobble problem was gone. It still leans back a little bit when the lid...

Lid thermos are not usually very accurate, but can be useful for catching variations in kettle temp. Some folks have been able to order the thermo and bezel from Weber. Others have found that they cannot buy a part from Weber that doesn't come on a grill that they have registered. It kind of...

I have had good luck with the RO Chef's Select too. I have been buying it online from Do it Best Hardware. I have heard that it is available at Restaurant Depot also.

Hello Jonny, when I use my Performer I start the coals in my chimney using the gas assist. I only have to run the gas for a few minutes, then turn it off and wait for the coals. Once the coals are ready I dump them into the baskets or behind a rail, brick, or whatever I am using for that cook.
