    wcga use

I noticed how popular the go anywhere seemed to be with Phubar and the Dutch brethren. Wonder if it's true for the whole of the Netherlands. I also found the Australians love of the Q grills interesting.

    I have a Q!

Nice rehab Hank! I got mine the same way. Guy said it didn't work anymore and I wound up getting it for free. I had to replace the battery and the regulator. Weber replaced it for free! I haven't had the thermometer get much higher than 550 myself. I did a nice job nonetheless. Happy...

    Direct vs. Indirect

I hope I'm not splitting hairs, but I don't think there is such a thing as indirect grilling. Grilling is the application of direct heat. Now indirect cooking is a different subject. I only have a q220 and it does not have independent burners. I have set up an indirect cooking method by...

    Cookies on the Q

I got out the Q this weekend and practiced some techniques for future camping trips. I heated the grill to 325, placed a cast iron griddle on the grates to act as a heat sink, place a raised grate over that, and put on a small cookiesheet with chocolate chip cookie dough on the grate. 10...

    Won't stay lit

Just swapped out the old regulator for with a new one. It lit right up. I takes a little while to get up to temp but it looks to be a nice little unit.

    "New" Genesis Silver B

I learned the hard way with the old serial numbers. Never spray the unit down until you have had a chance to get the numbers off. I tried to wipe off dirt and watched the whole number go with it. I'll post some shots of my most rehab shortly.

    Won't stay lit

Thanks Rob, I don't have the hose. I'm running of a small tank. I had flame all around so I'm assuming that clogging is not the issue. I'll give your solution a try and post my results.

    Won't stay lit

I cleaned up the Q I picked up and got it to light. It began heating up and I intended to burn off the grill grates. I stepped away for a bit and came back to find it off. I then could not get it restarted. Anyone else had these problems? Any solutions?

    220 Questions

I recently picked up a 220 off of craigslist for the low, low price of nothing. It's not running yet. Does the starter make any noise or clicking? It's quiet now. How can I date the grill if I need replacement parts?

    Genesis Rehab

I'm in the process of rehabbing a Genesis Silver C I pulled out of a trash pile. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best type of paint for the lower cookbox?

    Roadside Chicken

Yeah, I'm getting nervous. I still have a month to get this together. I'm planning on both marinating and basting. My big concern is how to adjust the salt and spice levels. I'm sure I don't want to ramp up the salt just by doubling, quadrupling, etc. I just wondered if there is some rule...

    Roadside Chicken

I want to make RS Chicken for a school barbecue. Does anyone have thoughts on how to multiply the recipe to do 180lbs of leg quarters?

    Restoring a Performer

Thanks for the replies. I wound up putting a piece of pipe on the handle which gave me some torque to pop the blade attachment free. Then I put some pliers on the cathcer handle and twisted it free after five minutes. I've got everything off. Now I need to call Weber to get new parts.

    Restoring a Performer

Thanks Rich. It looks like I have the 92-94 model which has an ash catcher support bar. The catcher handle won't even budge it's so rusted.

    Restoring a Performer

I'm beginning to restore a 90s era Performer. The cleaning system assembly is completely rusted (the blades just fell off) and I can't figure out how to remove it. Any ideas?

S J. Gold Mini WSM Smoker

I've finished my build (I went ahead and cut the bottom out) and I'm in the middle of my test burn. I'm using the steamer insert as a heat shield, no water pan, and about 20 coals. So far its holding at 250 with the lower vents at 33% open.

S J. Gold Mini WSM Smoker

George, I picked up my steamer, marked it with a compass, and was set to cut out the bottom when I thought about your post. You said you used the steamer insert as a heat diffuser. Is there any advantage in cutting out the bottom? Any thoughts as to whether it would be more advantageous to...

S J. Gold Mini WSM Smoker

I just scored a SJ from a trash pile this weekend. Love the mini-WSM idea. I have a question. Should I do the vent mod as well or can I get by without it? http://www.bbq-brethren.com/fo...owthread.php?t=79920
