Chicago: Looking for a Silver B manifold/valve assembly

DM me with the price if you have one available. Prefer Chicago area part to avoid exorbitant shipping prices. I am rehabbing a B but the darn valve screws are frozen up and stripped. Thanks @TonyS T-Bone

    Thor’s Hammer!

Saw the beef shank on sale at local grocer so I asked for a whole one (7-8 pounds) vs sawed into osso buco like cuts. On sale, choice, 1.99 LB. Smoked w hickory 4 hours, then wrapped and cooked at 275 for another 6! Cold and snowy in Chicago today. I served on platter w chips, jalapeno, guac...

Would you spin a turkey in zero degrees?!

My (Chicago) weekend menu is (was?) planned to include spinning a 14 pound bird and roast a prime tenderloin, and numerous veggies etc. on my gassers. Now Mother Nature is bringing Snowmageddon and below-zero temps in on Thus-Friday. Wife says I’m nuts and I need intervention from tvwbb!! Thoughts?

WEBR earnings call was this AM. Ouch

Weber reported dismal annual earnings this morning. The company lost $330 million for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30. Net sales were down about 20% year over year to almost $1.6 million.

    Do KBB get stale?

I have had a hard time keeping good temps with Slow n Sear 22" kettle smokes using older bags of Kingsford briquettes. I loaded up on KBB over the past year or two and as I get deeper into the stockpile, I get this weird feeling that they get stale, damp, old, or "past their expiration date."...

    Wood for Slats

I have used several wood species for Genesis grill slats lately (and also recycled durawood of course), but tonight I recently bought a cache of POPLAR 1x2 for slats on my latest Weber Junior reno. Redhead on the black frame.... Has anyone done slats w POPLAR recently? And should I just...

    Restored 1991 Genesis 1

Picked up for free from an original owner. Wood handles and slats were worn away so I replaced w durawood. Everything else straightforward but I was proud to give as a gift to a young family of first responders as a house warming gift.

Adding casters to Gen 1 and/or Juniors

I am thinking of adding casters to my Junior and Genesis 1 projects/flips. Moving those grills around without casters is a pain. All I have to do is properly saw off the 1.5" (TBD) or so of the vertical tubing that make up the left side legs. (Making sure that everything is level before we...

How do I get smoker temp below 275?

I have an LP fueled Masterbuilt 30" cabinet smoker but the darned thing can really own dial down to 275+ at the lowest settings. There are times I'd like to keep it lower. I have read that there are regulator/hose combos that have an additional valve of some sport that would allow me to...

    Pork Steaks ba-da-boom!

So whenever my local grocer puts the butts on sale (used to be 99 cents now 1.99 ugh) I always maneuver to get 1.5” steaks cut and my butcher usually does a great job w no mark up. So today I made a couple steaks on the 22” w sNs and Kpro. Dry brined w salt overnight, used mayo as a binder and a...

    What a Blast!

Found a nice powder coater in Chicago’s west suburbs who made quick work of my spring refurb projects. Media blasting cleans up cook boxes much easier than “the usual way”!

Drip tray deal for Spirit 500

This older-era tray pops up from time to time on ebay or Amazon, but for less than $45 with shipping it's the lowest I've seen. Rare opportunity to replace that pitted, JB-welded, and bent up original! I'm not a metallurgist but it appears to be stamped aluminum like the original?

Hi all I am looking in the Chicago area for one or two black front panels for the Weber Gen 2-5000. As rust-free as possible of course. It's the panel that has the "match hole" in it. Picture below is "representative" but is not exact. Thanks for any help!

    DInosaur (Plate) Ribs

Picked up a 5LB plate rib section at Costco on Friday night. Prepped them Saturday night, cleaned, rinsed, membrane removed, mustard rub and a heavy blend of SPG then onto a tray for an 8 hour sleep in the fridge. Prepped my old 22" smoke kettle with the snake method. Chicago temp 36 and...

Best cover for a Weber JR.?

Does anyone have a suggestion as to what type of cover best fits a Weber Junior? A Genesis 1000 cover (7106?) was a bit baggy. All suggestions appreciated. Thx.
