Which is more valuable, old SS Performers or the newer ones?

Huh? A few weeks back it cost me $3.15 to fill mine at the local lumber yard. Personally, I don't like the smaller 1# tanks as they run out 5 times faster than a 5# tank. Maybe even more so if you refill your own from a 20# cylinder. To the OP's original question... I think it boils down...

    The big day...

Start early and put the butt on the lower rack. Use the upper rack for the ribs. Remember - lookin' aint' cooking, so don't lift the lid unless you have to. Have fun and enjoy the eating the aftermath. :)

    Craigslist Find

Just a word of caution --- the bottom panel of these grills is weak at best. It would be in your interest at some point to clean it up and spray a fresh coat of paint on it. Especially if it's stored on the ground instead of a deck. Otherwise - congrats on a nice find. PS - flip the CI...

    Cook Time for Pulled Pork

I'll be the odd ball and say everything in the original post seems normal to me. I typically start my butt cooks around midnight and plan on 12 hour cooks. Granted, I'm cooking 8-10 pounders but still. Each hunk of meat is different and "it's done when it's done." I've only done a small 3ish...

Warped centre section on my WSM

Did you even attempt? Remember, these are mass produced stamped steel units. There will be some tolerances which are acceptable as they're not air tight. They're metal-to-metal connections and will leak smoke, especially at fire-up, until they build up junk.[/COLOR]

Warped centre section on my WSM

Simple fix. Take a tape measure and measure multiple points around the top of the center section and take note of the longest & shortest measurement. At the longest measurement, GENTLY bear hug the center section giving a squeeze to adjust for roundness. Carefull as a little goes a long way...

    Another redhead genesis restoration!

Personal experience has been closer to 8 years before I get new, but still - they ain't forever (but used a lot over that time period) Me, I prefer using the CI over the SS so even if they were the same cost - I'd still pick the CI The aftermarket SS flavoriver bars - totally worth the cost if...

    Another redhead genesis restoration!

You need the 2 letter code in front of the serial number, then go here - http://help.weber.com/schematics/#serial-number What are your grates? Heavy like porcelain cast iron? Thin stamped SS or porcelain coated steel? If they're porcelain stamped steel, I say chuck em' and get something...

    Is this worth it?

That is a Weber Genesis 2000 Yes, they're easy to work on and worth fixing up Yes, parts are still available Posting is 4 days old - I'd be surprised if it was still available.

Pork butt kind of dry - over cooked?

My $.02, it wasn't cooked long enough especially if you wrapped and let it rest. I start checking for probe-tender at 190 degrees, and half the time 190-195 is spot on. Other times, I've needed 200-210 internal temps for THAT hunk of meat to be done. As weird as it may seem, cooking longer...

Look what I'm picking up tomorrow!!

Good to hear! Far too often people post up a deal they've struck only to have it swiped out from under them by a higher $$$ offer.

What Size Clay Saucer for 22" WSM

The 18.5" takes a 14" and most of 'us' are using the 16" in the 22.5"

    Charcoal sufficating in WSM 18.5"

I agree completely with Tim. After I remove the mid-section, the charcoal looks like this. I have the charcoal grate wire tied to the charcoal ring. Notice the bolts on the charcoal ring? I take a deep breath and shake the ring back-n-forth a few times and it looks like this. From...

Just scored this on CL in Northern VA

Not only that, but the listing ran for a week before it expired first. This was the second listing of this grill. I used great restraint as I have too many at the moment and need to move some out, but this was a GREAT pick-up. Glad to hear it went to a good home. :)

    Which bbq grill ?

I would have made the same choice. Does this have the 13 flavorizer bars? Seriously, a tank of LP lasts quite a while. Have a spare tank and running out mid cook is no big deal. Congrats and lookin' forward to the clean up.

    Cover fits pretty tight

Just to add to my original comment --- I did snip the elastic straps and still have ^^^^ that issue.

Not a weber or smoker involved.

There's a zero percent chance that'll ever get made in this household, but I'd absolutely love to have one at your house.

New Which Size WSM Should I Get

I started with the 22" Then built a mini-wsm as it looked like a cool project and the 14" wasn't available Then I scored an 18" at an estate sale The 18 probably sees most of the work load. The space of the 22 is great when you need/want it. I just fired it up this weekend as I had a bunch...
