    7 Hour Baby Back Ribs

When doing jerky on the WSM I am able to keep the temps around 170 without a problem. Just start with 5-10 lit and about 50 or so unlit. Usually lasts about 7 hours or so and then needs to be refueled. It does seem like these temps may be a little low for ribs and 225 seems to do just fine...

BTW...What color is yours? I just looked at your picture and noticed it's not black, the lid is just up

    Please ID my new project.....

Thanks for the compliment Jonathan. I really enjoyed restoring it and can't wait to see what yours will look like finished. I agree, I love the look of the real wood. To me that's what sets it off. I also looked into the durawood but like you highly prefer the look of the real wood. My main...

    Please ID my new project.....

Hey Jonathan, Welcome to the forum! Very nice find. That will clean up very nicely. As Ron G. mentioned (thanks for the very nice compliment Ron!) I just restored a 3000 in similar shape so any questions feel free to ask. As far as determining what it is, do as Ron mentioned and find the...

    Finally finished my gasser restore

Thanks again everybody, Dave, I used pine for the wood. I had planned on teak but wasn't able to find it, plus pine was much cheaper. I cut it to length, sanded, and coated with 3 layers of Spar Varnish. I liked the look of the handle so I just sanded it down and coated it also with 3 coats...

    Identify this grill please!

Looks like a great find! If you really want to know what it is I would do like Ron said and then call weber with the the model and serial number. They should be able to tell you exactly what it is and what month and year it was manufactured. They can also help with any parts you'll need...

    Finally finished my gasser restore

According to Weber mine was produce in late '98. Does anybody happen to remember what the 3000's went for back then? I would love to be able to give my better half a closer estimate . Thanks,

    Finally finished my gasser restore

Thanks everybody, I'm very happy with how it turned out. Mac, I didn't track it too closely but I figure I spent about $140 on parts and what not + $25 for the BBQ + $50 for propane tank = $215 total. Could have saved a little but I didn't plan things out very well so I had to get a couple...

California > Rocklin: Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ

I have eaten at the Rocklin Lucille's a few times and have been very satisfied. I agree that I prefer mine out of my WSM but for BBQ from a restaurant, myself and everybody who I have gone there with have always been happy. As mentioned above the portions are generous and the biscuits and...

    Finally finished my gasser restore

Here is a follow up to my previous posting here. This morning I finally got around to finishing my 3000 that I picked up on craigslist so here are a few pics of the finished product. Thanks for looking,

Paint a chimney starter with high heat paint

Looks like this post was restarted from a previous posting but while were on the topic I agree that I doubt the paint would hold up. I think that the BBQ rustoleum is good up to 1200 degrees but I'm pretty sure it says not to use where directly exposed to flames. If your worried about rust you...

    Extinguish?

Not sure about everybody else, but I used to extinguish as said above, just closing the vents on my WSM but I noticed a lot of my coals would burn down when doing this. My kettle, however is much more airtight so I wired my charcoal ring to the charcoal grate. Now I just lift out the ring and...

    Spare vs. Back Ribs

In my experience they both have their pros. I think backs tend to be more tender, leaner, and take a little shorter to cook, but spares have more meat, are cheaper, and I love to trim them St. Louis style, cook the trimmings, and chop it up and add to keris hog apple baked beans. Try the...

    Finally found a gasser

Just thought I'd write to give an update to those interested. I have broken down the grill completely and and am in the process of cleaning everything with 409, 0000 steel wool, and paper towels. I spoke with a customer rep from weber today and should be expecting in approximately 10 business...

    Finally found a gasser

Sorry Mac, Nothing has really happened yet, so nothing worth taking pictures of. I bought a new warming rack and warmup basket today from california backyards and I also ordered two new casters and new control knobs for the burners from Weber. Hopefully this weekend I can start breaking it...

    Finally found a gasser

Thanks everybody as to the restoration. It sounds like it may be best to change my plan of completely restoring it and just touch up the rusted spots and then polish the rest of it. As to the debate between a 3 VS. 3000. My knowledge is very limited since the only 3 or 3000 I've seen is mine...

    Finally found a gasser

Great, thanks Mac, I'll follow your advice. I had bought some High Heat Enamel Rust-Oleum that recommends not using a primer. Has anybody used this paint before? Would you recommend I still use a primer. It also recommends not using on metal directly exposed to flames or in direct contact...

    Finally found a gasser

Thanks again everybody. This forum is great. The black paint is fairly oxidized on the frame but there is hardly any rust. In order to repaint it should I sand/strip the whole thing down or just the problem areas? Also do you recommend repainting the interior too? Thanks,
