Anyone ever seen silicon nitride hot rod?

OK, as promised I installed one in the Members Mark. I double checked directions this time and realized the element is supposed to be kept vertical (which I did not do on Big Z) so I will be pulling Big Z slightly apart to realign the element from horizontal to vertical. The Members Mark was...

2008 Genesis S-320 LP SS Restoration

Yep IMO the sidewinders are the only "true" Genesis grills. Back in the 80s when they were introduced they showed true innovation in the grill market and IMO were the only ones that maintained actual innovation until they changed them in 2011

    Another grill space brainstorm

Yeah, I think really the best way is either conductive through a verry hot large piece of cast iron (heck I get excellent maillard reaction on my stainless steel pans) they key here is a ferrous high quality pan. The other solid way to get a good Maillard is with infrared burners. While I'm not...

Anyone ever seen silicon nitride hot rod?

So, I installed the new igniter rod today. All I can say is WOW! That thing was pumping out smoke in less than a minute and was fully ignited in under 2. Can't wait to put the other one in my Members Mark. Hopefully the new rods add to stability. But even if it doesn't ignition speed is incredible.

Oh I got it. Maybe my frame of mind was a little "off" this AM :D

Cleaning the grate of a Q1200

I like the Libman brass brushes best. I buy them at our local place here called Menards. They sell the brass ones. Haven't seen the SS ones.

Anyone ever seen silicon nitride hot rod?

Me too. I ordered 2 of them. As their literature specifically mentions working on Members Mark and Z Grill models. They're supposed to be here today. Since I've done 2 cooks on Big Z I need to vacuum it out anyway so I'll be halfway there. MM is in the garage and it makes life a bit easier. But...

I need to now determine when I can do those butts and another brisket, plus I still need to get to MN to get my guitar amongst so many other things coming up here. UGH

Which paper towels do you prefer?

I've honestly not been happy with paper products from Kirkland (or Members Mark as well). But especially Kirkland. The TP is the worst

It absolutely was. I've got the remaining 3 ribs vacuum sealed and they'll go in the freezer

And I am by myself tonight :D Wife is in downtown chitown with her sister who's in from FLA for a trade show. I'm gonna eat one for my supper, then freeze them individually in vacuum bags. I have to do another brisket because I want to lay in a supply of Q for the "off season". So, sometime soon...

Buddy was over last night and we were sitting on the deck with the Weber gas fireplace going drinking some nice German Oktoberfest brews from Paulaner in Munich and Hacker Shorr. (yes I'm draggin' my a$$ this AM LOL) thinking back to how much nicer things were in 50's 60's and 70's. Save for the...

Which paper towels do you prefer?

For what use? In my shop I usually will buy either the rolls of blue paper shop towels and or the big box of Scott Rags in a Box. In the kitchen usually Bounty premium type towels when I find them on sale I stock up. Many times I'll see Costco put the large packages on sale and I'll buy 3 or 4...

    Q220 LPG to NG conversion

Then something else was wrong. My own Q2xx and another I gave to my oldest daughter would get right up there. I am always a proponent of if something is not right you fix the problem not "mod" around it. Because then you don't know what the issue was in the first place.
