    Advice for this weekend....

    Don't have a Maverick but if you are not using water in the pan the bottom grate will be hotter so that one will cook faster. I'd rotate half way through the cook either way.

    I don't know how many lbs it was but if it went across the whole grate then get a smaller one. If need be, get one for the bottom grate too!

    The wsm grate is thick as it is, so adding another grate thickness takes away even more precious charcoal room. Dave adding another charcoal grate is a fraction of an inch. really doesn't matter.

    Yes I hope it goes on sale too. I missed the last one @ Chuck_D - I use two charcoal grates crossed to make all the gaps smaller. Gets the most out of any charcoal or lump you are using.
