Wayne, don't give much credence to all of those posts about going through glow plugs. Every time someone posts about a flameout someone tells them to change the glow plug. Someone posts about not being able to get to 600 and someone says change the glow plug. The only problem that a bad glow...

    Vacuum food saver

Not familiar with the Nesco. Have had Foodsavers for over 20 years. I double seal everything and it does take more time. I'm going to explore the Nesco because my Foodsaver is showing end of life signals. I went to generic bags about 3 years ago and never had a problem. I don't use the jar...

    You did great.

    Ambitious?

FWIW I taped a piece of clear plastic over the controller panel on my Camp Chef and RecTec. No rain got into the pellet hopper and none in the controller. I cooked through a lot of Florida thunderstorms.

I agree wth Darian on this. In the FB group we've discussed and haven't really formed a consensus on why some people get the corrosion and some of us don't. Age seems to be a factor but regular high heat cooks may also contribute to the problem. If it were lack of a regular cleaning ritual...

    Would you buy this?

2250001 is the model number for the Gen1 EX4. BUT, the new auger that he put in and the hopper change makes it the same as a Gen2. :D 100 bucks is a great price. Him being willing to order parts is a bonus. This is the warranty off the Weber site. Cook box and all components not covered...

    Spatchcock Chicken

Thanks Bob. Yeah, getting off the O2 is a long, every day, process. Lung workouts and walking keep me progressing.

    Spatchcock Chicken

My family really likes Spatchcock birds off the Smokefire. Today, my son was at work for the start so I improvised. I left the Oxygen in the house and made excursions to the garage to set up the EX6 for the cook. When I feel winded I set down and do controlled breathing until I get my Oxygen...

Initial ELX 6 Experience - Outstanding So Far

My family really likes the taste of food off the Smokefire. That's an incentive for me to deal with the glitches when they pop up. Most pellet grills can test your patience but, to me, it's worth the effort because of the great food. Have fun.

My EX6 Is Up and Running Great

The Thermocouple is the grill temp probe mounted at the back of the main cooking grate. The easy way to install it involves removing the pellet hopper.

My EX6 Is Up and Running Great

Yesterday my Son installed the Darian Hofer supplied auger motor assembly and the new Weber supplied Thermocouple. My lungs are improved enough that I could sit and kibitz without dragging the Oxygen tank out to the garage. Just can’t exert myself much without O2. My job was answering...

New Sear+ Hopper Chute Gap Question

It looks like Weber slightly changed the pellet dump when they redesigned the hopper. The plate that moves back and forth is not flush on the Gen1 and Gen2. They are very similar however and not a problem for pellet flow. When a problem void develops it's over the auger chute so - not to...

A huge THANK YOU to Darien and Issom

On the Facebook page I posted about my E7 Motor failure error code. Darien Hofer had an auger assembly that Issom had sent to him and it was a spare that he offered to send to me. I took him up on the offer and it arrived today. Now my son can get my grill up and working. You guys are very...

    New SmokeFire for 2023?

I like most of the above suggestions for changes. I heard this same rumor 18 months ago from a guy in the UK. I am not a corporate type so I'm just going with my gut and how Weber has dealt with the Smokefire. Weber released a new Smokefire in 2023. It's called the Sear+. Don't they have...

    Weber large grill basket.

I have it and also use it on the upper grate. I also use it for meatloaf. :)

Rule of Thumb for Drip Pans?

The wet smoke kit is an income producer for Weber but all that's needed is cheap foil pans..

Which Pellets Can I Use in SF?

As far as I know Cabelas is still made by Lumberjack. Traeger pellets are larger than the pellets I have. I got my B&B at Academy Sports and Outdoors and I think they ship. I really like their Championship blend.

Which Pellets Can I Use in SF?

Our grills tell us what we can use. My EX6 will eat anything I feed it. My EX4 auger moans if I feed it Bear Mountain. Weber pellets are made by Lumberjack in their Wisconsin plant. They are smaller in diameter than most other brands. Lumberjack brand, Weber, and Cabelas are all the same...
