    Yappers lifting that lid was causing your cooker to burn hotter even thou the temp gauge for a short time showed it as lower ! When it caught up you had fed the the fire fuel AIR . Best thing to of done was just close the bottom vent on the side the wind was comming from and left that lid closed...

    Being if it were me I would just run a gas line to it . It really shouldn't cost all that much to do IMO ! They or you if your handy can come right off the gas line in your basement . Codes vary a little but it really should not be a big deal to do .

    One small tip for winter Qing is keep your grates no matter what Q or grill your using in the house in winter things seem to heat up a tad faster when you fire up the grill . I been doing this for yrs and IMo it works perty good and then you have no real concerns with rust also

    I have found a LOT here on CL and resonable $$ just have to keep watch is all . these guys most a sell you a trunk full or a truck load I have found everthing apple cherry peach pear oak maple and even hickory and we don't have as far as I know a hickory tree left in this state . Good luck

    I use mine to keep dirt and dust off it ! I store mine in my garge anyway ! I would cover it keeping it outside anyway but there nothing on it that a rust I don't think except the very fe SS parts .
