Cajun Bandit SS Door for 22 WSM

I think stainless steel is way better than aluminum. It also costs more! Yer smoker needs air flowing too burn (duh right), so a tiny leak is no big deal. You adjust your bottom vents any way. I have used the stock door on my 18 incher for about 15 years! I have "flexed" it a couple times to fit...

    Another word of caution

I have a fire pit made from a semi truck rim in the ground. I just dump every thing hot in it and back in da garage go my webers! All 4 of em! I just gotta shovel it out once a year! The garbage truck driver hates me for that but oh well!

Cheap Handle for my new 22.5 WSM

Just use standard garage door handles and they will fit too if you just flex them inwards just a little! They look kinda ugly at first but then they grow on ya. No drilling either!

    whats wierd about this grill?

That has do be either a factory mistake or a modification. If you try to roll it at all it looks like it will fall over to me.

So when do you use a drip-pan on a kettle

Clint I guess its a personal preference. Clean the sweeper mechanism and bottom of yer charcoal bowl or use aluminum throw away pans or (I do this) use a small regular pan dedicated for this because it will never clean up perfect!

    How to grill Steak

Yea, what they said! Also when you start with a good piece of meat it is easier to finish with one! With that I mean get a steak that is well marbled! Fat is flavor! High heat is best imo for a good steak and cook it just until it is as rare as YOU like it. By that I mean if you all like it...

So when do you use a drip-pan on a kettle

When you cook in-direct (not right over the hot coals) it is a good idea to have a drip pan. This is so you can catch the grease or you can baste the meat with out making a huge nasty mess. . When you want to cook low and slow instead of fast high heat grilling you can cook in-direct kinda...

    The perfect charcoal grill?

If they charge 300 bucks fer a standard 26er, them greedy folks at weber would prob. want 800 for a 26 inch performer! I myself would rather just have an extra standard kettle laying around for back up. It gives you more versatility and is much cheaper!

18 inch kettle legs mod. questions

That ots is a work of art! It looks great.. I have no ash sweeper in mine as it is over 20 years old. My wife told me I should get rid of my 18 inche kettle cause I had like 4 other webers! WTH does she want a divorce or some thing? lol.. Ill put my go any where weber in da yard sale NOT mah...

18 inch kettle legs mod. questions

Tx for the feedback guys. George all 6 pages of that post are about airflow in SJP! I am turning my standard 20 year old 18 inch kettle into a portable. The legs have been wobbly for years. It has the 3 daisy wheels on the bottom so I know it will get decent air flow. I love how it turned out...

18 inch kettle legs mod. questions

I just did the mod. I used 3/4 galv. pipe with alum foil on the ends. It tapped right in with a rubber mallet. Dont know if they will come out or not but oh well. ! lol..i used 8 inch pipe so I can still have the ash catch aluminum thingy! I am happy for around 10 bucks!

18 inch kettle legs mod. questions

I want to make my 18 inch kettle more portable for tail gating. Can I just use galvanized pipe for the legs? How can I make the legs stay in when lifting/transporting? What size diameter pipe? I could always cut the other standard legs down I guess. I am not a fan of my go any where grill. I...

    New to WSM

If yer aluminum door is a little bit not tight you can GENTLY flex it inwards to get a better fit. As those above said you almost always will see some smoke coming out around door and where the sections are.. No big deal.

    Got a Situation

Hickory is THE strongest wood. Use less of it than say any fruit wood. Also poultry absorbs more smoke than say beef, so use less of any kind of wood when ya have the birds on. Myself I like just one large chunk to three large of apple wood for most smokes. It is common for newbies to use too...

    Differences between the sizes?

Very few differences. Both sizes will hold the temp. you want with ease. The main difference is you will use slightly more charcoal in the 22 incher, but you got more space fer good "q", so its all good! Lots on good info on here. Use it for a while and do what works for you. Most on here do...
