    How big?

Agreed. I See everyone grilling on built in charcoal grills at Eisenhower park and think that its a perfect location for an epic smoke fest

    How big?

James, cannot comment as i havent tested but I'm glad to see im not the only long islander doing a WSM turkey this year. Im doing an 18 lb'er in my 22" WSM in East Meadow. The one comment i can add is that dark meat needs more heat then the breast, and the edges of the WSM which aren't...

20-22 lb Turkey on 22.5 WSM

I used my WSM right out of the box, with nothing more then a wipe down and a slightly longer preheat, followed by a chicken cook that came out great. IMO The "seasoning" that people reccomend serves two purposes: 1. Build up a layer of grease and smoke that will gunk up cooker to seal up some...

    Coconut Charcoal???

Troy over on weberkettleclub often posts about coshell with very postive results. Seems more common on west coast. Here in NY i dont see it anywhere and the shipping costs are deal breakers for me.

20-22 lb Turkey on 22.5 WSM

Jumping in head first, I like it! Make sure you stay with a good amount of lit to start on top of some unlit to light later in the cook.

    Wind And The WSM

Glad you saved it. if your top grate has too play and falls through, check to see if your mid section out of round, weber may replace under warranty. i had same issue top grate collapse during meat tending and water pan fell onto coals (thankfully empty) If you dont want to replace midsection...

    Lid Thermometer Eye Opener

I like my IQ110 but my IQ probe and maverick probe NEVER match. I think the fact that IQ shields their probes with an alligator clip is part of the discrepancy. Often my 250 on my IQ is 275 on maverrick (which is boiling water tested as accurate) I usually set the IQ so it thinks its at one...

    Bezel on 22.5...

I've had both 18 and 22, the therms and bezels are different diameters: The 18 shares a bezel diameter with the kettles and maybe the spirit grills, but has a therm that is geared towards lower temps 0-350+ then the grill therm 0 to 600+ The 22 shares a bezel diameter with the genesis series...

I was doing that for a while, but then i opened a separate wholly owned subsidiary (started flipping Weber's on craigslist to pay for larger new equipment) No board of directors or stockholders to answer to this way.

    1st Turkey on 22.5 WSM

Good Call Tim, I learned this the hard way during a test cook last week. high heat needs to breath a bit. Thursday i am going to start my warm up extra early to allow cooker to come to temp. think i will leave un assembled for a few minutes first and them leave the lid ajar for the early preheat...

2 smaller turkeys or 1 bigger one?

If your on the fence of 1 bird vs two birds one whole + 1 breast is often the perfect solution as it seems there's always left over dark meat long after the light meat is gone in my experience.

    Major assistance needed for Thanksgiving

a 24lber many not fit on the cooking grate as the lid may not close. You MAY be able to do a "basement bird" like this: http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/grilling-bbqing/favorites-part-two-turkey/msg81474/#msg81474 I would do some test fits with the pan to see what fits.

Amazon Deal of the Day> FoodSaver V2244 Vacuum Sealing System $56.50

This is a great buy. i have this model and im happy with it. I find i have to press vac/seal, and then manually select seal once its looks like its all been vac'd as the vac/seal single function just sucks and sucks but it makes left overs a breeze.

    Smoking in cold wether

Yes we here in the North East have to deal with the cold more then those southern boys, but then again the Canadian's look at us like we're the bahama's :) My first WSM was the coldest day of last winter http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?57630-First-Run-on-new-WSM-in-Perfect-Weather! The tips...

Best Bird -- Kettle or WSM?

I think im going to start my cook the same way. I may or may not add the water pan during the cook if the bottom pan/veggies are burning.

2 smaller turkeys or 1 bigger one?

Never done it, but i know on my 18" WSM ( new style deeper water pan) there was a significant heat discrepancy between the top and bottom racks. Bottom was Roughly 25 deg. cooler. If you 2 simulateously and do one upper grate one lower grate, be prepared to either rotate them as you cook or let...

    1st Turkey on 22.5 WSM

Ken Same boat here. Did a test cook the other night using a similar set up as mentioned above. It got to 350 but it took about an hour. To speed up the preheat, On thanksgiving i am going to do about the same but i am leaving the water pan out for the preheat phase to allow the cooker to come...

Best Bird -- Kettle or WSM?

Rich same here. I just got my 22" WSM in september and hadnt done a high heat cook on it yet. Did a test cook last night to see what it would take to get it up to 350. I was using 6 lbs of thighs not a turkey so thermal mas will be quite a bit different with a 16 lb bird but i can manage...
