Cook by meat temp. The lower the grill temp the longer you go. Wsm nature takes longer. Love my new wsm, hope you do too.

    Stubbs

KBB will go on sale in the south in the near future, 2 15# bags for about $9.00. I plan on stocking up then. Otherwise I plan to stick with Royal Oak for my cooks. $6.50 for a 8.89# bag is not bad.

    Hello again

Awesome! I too wanted a bge and had a huge change of heart and went with the 22 wsm. I do not regret my choice and look forward to many cooks on it. I have a performer as well and it is my go to grill. Congrats on the new additions!

    Stubbs

I like to use this website for charcoal info. I did not see Stubbs on it though. http://www.nakedwhiz.com/lumpindexpage.htm?bag. I have read not so good reviews of Stubbs. Burns quick and leaves a lot of ash compared to other lump charcoal.

    Fuel Choices

I guess I should have also stated the bag was only 8.## lbs. So it really was not a lot of lump it may have been close to using a 12# of Kingsford. Sometimes my brain and logic do not always flow together. Thank you all for the input, I will try my next one with no water at all. I have a...

    Fuel Choices

I did use water to begin and did not add any water. Yes it took about 11 hours to finish, the temps did run fairly close from the lid and the probe. It's just a lot of lump used. Guess it just has to do with the smoker. What is your choices for charcoal? Briquettes or lump? I see blue bag...

    Fuel Choices

I was using the lid thermometer and the 733, one in the meat and one on the grill next to the shoulders.

    Fuel Choices

I did my first cook on a 22 this past weekend, man there is a ton of space. I have seen Kingsford as the most referenced fuel choice. I did 2 8lb shoulders and had trouble keeping my fire hot enough with all vents wide open, I used 1 1/2 bags of Royal Oak lump and could not keep fire at 250...

    Lets getting cooking in Louisiana!

Thanks for the welcome guys. I will get some pictures done tonight for sure. Just picked up my 22 since the 18 was damaged. All they has was a floor model but they took some off the price and it was worth the $3 more than amazon to pick it up already put together! First cook tonight 2 8lb...
