    Help!!!! Chipped Lid!

I finally got around to calling Weber this evening. They are sending me a new lid (with thermometer which mine doesn't have) including the handle (with heat shield which mine doesn't have), and damper assembly! Weber definitely lives up to their reputation for customer service!

    Porcelain coated cast iron griddle

My wife got me a Weber porcelain enamel coated cast iron griddle for my Genesis E-320 grill for my birthday today. I've been cooking Sunday breakfasts on an electric griddle lately, and I can't wait to do it on the grill. I've seen some reviews saying that food sticks pretty badly. Anyone here...

Am i doing it wrong? Vents

I believe the general idea is that by closing the top vents you are restricting the ability for the air to exit the smoker, increasing potential for very small airborne ash particles to fall onto your food rather than rising through the open vents with the smoke. I believe closing the top vents...

Using lump charcoal in a weber kettle?

That is the precise impression I had at the time, and even now after several years, I remember that being his general tone... that Webers were cheap, thin-gauge steel, and you really should be buying something much more expensive if you wanted quality.

    WSM on Craigslist

Yeah, I'm not terribly broken up about it. I've been thinking about getting a WSM "someday". The only reason I even knew about this one was I got an email alert for "weber" that I had set up on Craigslist when I was looking for a gasser a few weeks ago. Usually I just delete the alert emails...

The guy had emailed me back so I thought it was looking good, but by the time I saw his email and responded it was sold.

Using lump charcoal in a weber kettle?

Ok, I'm 90% sure I know the answer to this, but I wanted to ask the question anyway... When I first got my weber kettle about 4 years ago, I ran a couple bags of lump charcoal through it as I was learning how to use it and adjust temps, etc. Then I went into a local hearth and fireplace shop...

Weber Copper Performer Delux 22' - Charcoal Grill - $50 (Philadelphia)

Cooking for a picnic - Add lit to pile of unlit, or add unlit to lit coals?

Yeah, I'm not worried about it per say, just more wondering if there was benefit to one approach over the other. I do large cooks fairly infrequently, and the last time I did one relying on charcoal was shortly after I started using it and I ran out of coals and had to finish stuff off on the...

    New BBQ "Cook" Questions

The amount of charcoal will depend on how many burgers you're going to cook. If I'm just cooking for my immediate family (usually 5 or 6 burgers, which are all cooked at the same time), I'll usually use between 1/2 and 3/4 chimney in my 22" kettle. I like to use a 2-zone method where I give...

Cooking for a picnic - Add lit to pile of unlit, or add unlit to lit coals?

For me, cookouts usually just means burgers, dogs, and maybe some brats/sausages being cooked at dinner/supper time, so I would go with a traditional indirect/direct setup. I have a cast iron grate that is divided in quarters, so I can add more coal pretty easily, lit or unlit. The only issue...

Cooking for a picnic - Add lit to pile of unlit, or add unlit to lit coals?

When you are grilling for a picnic/cookout, and you know you're going to have the grill running for an extended period of time such that a single chimney of coals is not going to last, do you dump a chimney of lit coals onto a pile of unlit or do you just dump the chimney of lit coals in, and...

Question re grill covers, see pic

That's great to hear! On a bit of a tangent, I think the Internet had really helped companies get back to providing solid customer service. Great to hear!

    Help!!!! Chipped Lid!

I just uncovered the kettle to plank a salmon filet. Upon reaching to take the lid off, I immediately noticed a chip in the enamel. I find it hard to believe it was chipped the last time I used it since I noticed it so quickly, but I can't figure out how it could have gotten chipped in the...

When did Weber stop using the 5 lb propane tank on the Performer? (reposted)

Thanks for that link, John! Reading through the descriptions, it sounds like this one: http://harrisburg.craigslist.org/grd/5602653886.html is a 2014 model, since it has the plastic table (2010-2014), but the propane bottle for gas assist which started in 2014, correct? If so, $100 doesn't...

Do you put dry rub on ribs your going to sauce

I always rub my ribs, no matter what. And I serve them with sauce on the side, but I don't sauce them. With a good run, I usually only like to dip a few ribs and prefer to eat them dry. My wife generally agrees. Plus, we prefer very different sauces so it is easiest for me to just leave the...
