    plastic handles

The Weber charcoal grills in the UK now come with a bolt on ( rather than welded) handle with an integrated heat shield - I much prefer the older welded.

    England Q

It may be real but it's also probably photoshopped. (!) Looking closely you can see the US style cartridge holder rather than the UK gas style.

    Weber Grill Charcoal Factory Tour

That's cool. I still get a buzz out of production lines running well. Thanks for posting.

    WSM and BGE Owners

Much like John above I love my WSM as it is just so easy and this forum is great too - it's what convinced me to splash out on a WSM, they're pretty pricey here. Well I got a ceramic coooker and that was a whole new learning thing. I predominantly use the Egg or the kettle (Performer) if I want...

    England Q

Remember if it's for the UK market (which I would assume) it will have the UK gas setup. I have a Q which has a rather displeasing swing out basket and a hose with a regulator on it to take an upright cartridge - not nearly as nice as the US setup - so count your blessings!

Can I grill with gas on a Performer?

As Kent says - you have to use charcoal. That said if you have a chimney, some charcoal and some gas in the tank the performer's as quick to come up to temp as the Gen Silver (I have both). If you were halfway through a cook on your kitchen oven you could get the Performer hot before your oven...

Beer Can Chicken on Performer! Finished!

Looks good - I like the use of the rotisserie ring as a height extender - now why haven't I thought of that!

    Walnut Shells

I had some charcoal that was olive stone/shell based, it was an eco friendly thing. Lighting it was like cow dung, I had to apologise to the neighbours but it was OK once lit. Not something I'd add for flavour though!

    First cook with a Guru

Don't overstress. It's a forgiving cook, I'm sure the guru will work as advertised - just remember to make sure it has control, that is the airflow is shut off apart from the guru control. Enjoy it, look busy if you need to, keep a record so you know (a little) better for next time and let us...

    Chicken thighs

Did you parboil the sprouts? They look gorgeous, as do the wings.

    Grate confusion

The PCI grates used to be a Home Depot exclusive I believe. Beware also - there are different stainless grates. The "standard" grates are a kind of curved metal - either coated steel or stainless steel. Then there are the (more expensive) grates made of stainless rod. I think these are really...

    UK WSM Onwers

Hi Just happened to catch sight of this topic, I don't get on here much these days. I don't use the WSM as much as I used to but I still love it. Will be doing a hot smoked side of salmon tonight (and a slow cooked leg of pork overnight for Sunday lunch) but this isn't the norm ! I urge you to...

    A Couple SS Performer Questions

re the charcoal bin - I have heard it is handy when filled with ice/water and bottles.....

    Magnetic knife bar

Finally got around to ordering a Mag Blok - they look absolutely gorgeous, let's hope UK Customs don't take exception to them! I noticed TVWB appears in their links section.

    Stainless steel grates?

The top grate is the same as the kettle grate so you could get a Weber SS grate for that. I think they only do the hinged ones but I'm sure that would be OK. I think the lower one is unique to the WSM.

    Thermapen 30 days later

Reading your post makes me realise! A while ago I was at a food fair here in the UK (Ludlow) and there was a stand giving cooked meat samples / demos and I saw the cooks were checking everything with a thermometer. I remember saying it was "Health and safety gone mad" and that there was...

    PRIMO v. Big Green Egg

I'm afraid I can't comment on the Primo but I have a Kamado and a BGE (and a WSM etc). The Kamado is a #7 which is way too big for me - everyone said get the biggest you are comfortable with so I got the #7 over the #5. Well the K certainly has thick walls but this means it takes a long time to...

    26.5" Kettle or Performer?

Performer. If you want the extra space for occasional use get a second hand OTG (or silver) or borrow one for the occasion. I scoffed at the gas ignition and didn't think I'd even buy a gas cylinder (the old ones in the Uk require a deposit type cylinder) but once you get used to it.... I use...

    Euro-Brisket!

Ha - ha I had the same problem with brisket. Not quite a Charolais but Charolais cross Yard of Brisket Came out good. Did a brisket yesterday but not nearly as good.

    New WSMs for 2009

I'm not sure about the Euro regulation angle - after all WSMs are available here in the UK though I understand these things are rarely clear cut. Bear in mind what a full charcoal load could do with all vents open. Also I remember hearing the tale of the Brinkman charcoal pan hole and the by...
