I welded 2 U-shaped handles onto the charcoal grate. It about 1 1/2" taller than the ring. It also holds the ring in place. They are inside the ring.

I was an over night smoker.......... now I do it Hot & Fast at 300-325 degrees. It turns out the same. I just had to get the nerve to try it. Last butt I cooked 8# in 6 hours. You should try it sometime. You will like it.

I sold my weber ring because of the fit.

I ended up paying a little over $200 by the time I was finished with mine. I have it on wheels. It is very a dependable smoker.

I always smoke on the carport.

I took the handles off and used a piece of 3/4 x 2 tube and added an angle to the top to make a slot. The steel handle slides into the slot and is held in place with a small bolt threw the hole. All made from scrap metal that I had in the garage. Added some black paint and it looks like new.

I have a 1983 WSM. It had some rust sround the rim. I wire brushed it and painted inside the rim where the rust was. Iused black rustolium paint. That was a yesr ago.

I light the chimney with the performer fire starter.
