He probably added the side burner later, upgrading it to a 3000. While we might chafe at the use of later wheels and handle, this one has obviously been cared for.

I believe the casters were originally for just the higher end 4/5 grills before becoming standard issue on all Genesis grills.

I have gotten lots of great use out of my modded Silver A. I agree, Ed, that it heats up quick and uses less gas. Yet, somehow, it delivers very even cooking in my experience.
