    Non Food Grade spray bottle

I have a bunch of cheap spray bottles from Home Depot. These almost certainly are not food grade. Anyone have any experience/opinions whether this is OK? I would think it would be fine as long as I am not storing long term, but would be curious to get opinions. Thanks.....

    Empty Pan but with ashes?

Hi... I have cooked both with water and empty pan. I have seen suggestions for cleanup regarding pouring fat that has run into the pan and mix with ashes for easier cleanup. Silly question, but has anyone ever tried putting some ashes (maybe from a previous cook) in the pan before a cook so...

    Airflow and lots of BBQ

Thanks everyone. I figured you would have to work hard to choke off air flow and its good to hear that you can load up as long as you have enough charcoal. I do keep the top vent open all the time and tweak the bottom. Gene do you use minion method? I have been using that and just using...

    Airflow and lots of BBQ

I have noticed often people post pics of loads of BBQ in their WSM. I dont usually have to cook so much at once however was curious if you cook for a crowd or want to load up your WSM to the max, what is the limit on each rack so airflow is not so limited? What adjustments do you need if there...

Is there a good guide to grilling with charcoal?

I use firebricks like Chris does to separate my hot and cool zones. They were like $3. Not sure what size Chris purchased but mine dont fit quite a well and need to overlap them.

    Clean Up Question

I also start with a plastic putty knife, but on my 22.5 kettle. For stubborn stuff I will use a brush or even flat screwdriver CAREFULLY. Not a scratch, but if it did, the grease would cover it quickly anyways.

All-Clad Pan - Burnt Popcorn Residue - How to clean?

I have a ton of all-clad and highly recommend bar keepers friend as other have already done. A couple of other ways to clean it that I find helpful. Boil some water in it and try to scrape it with a wooden spatula. Then use bar keepers friend. Lastly I find Magic Eraser works well even...

    Pastrami corning/curing reciples

I was thinking of making Pastrami and noticed the article here on the bullet on how to do this. I am curious whether anyone has tried both the curing/corning recipe listed here and the Cook's Illustrated. If so, any thoughts on comparison of results? The mixture of spices is certainly...

Cleaning and Removing cleaning system on One-touch

Cleaning and Removing cleaning system on One-touch

Hi all, Yesterday, I after years of cooking on my One-Touch Silver Kettle, I decided to clean it really well and scrape off some of that buildup that had layered over the years over the porcelain. There was a enough of a buildup to have bent the fins such that there is now a gap between the...

Throw out WSM grate? Safe to use?

Yes I am serious. It was leaned up against a big gorilla rack in the garage. Only one portion was touching the cement since it was leaning vertically against the rack, but smelled that the cat had peed in that area after getting locked in there for the night by accident. I usually just put it...

Throw out WSM grate? Safe to use?

Hi... After cleaning the WSM weeks ago, I put the grate in the garage on the floor which we later found out the cat had peed. Is this even safe to use after cleaning or should I just throw it out and buy a new one? Its still in great shape so I hate to throw it out but also dont want to be...

    Magic Eraser for cleanup?

Hi... I was wondering if anyone has used the "Magic Eraser" for cleanup. I have used this to clean the grates on my WSM and it works well. I tried it recently on a spot on the water bowl and it seemed to work OK. Anyone know of any issues or have using this especially on the porcelain...

Pork tenderloin or Pork center loin???

My humble opinion would be to do separate. Would highly recommend brining as well so they dont dry out. Tenderloin is very lean.

Pork tenderloin or Pork center loin???

I actually did a pork centerloin last weekend. Came great. I didnt use a recipe and kind of winged it but here is what I did. -Brine roast for a day - Full chimney of coal banked to one side. I use firebricks to separate. - Sear center pork loin on all sides with lid off rotating until fully...

    Weber Kettle Air leak

Hey Max... I too have both the kettle and WSM. I completely expect the kettle to leak more than the WSM. The odd thing is that I have had this kettle for years and it has always extinguished the coals. Im am a bit too frugal at times and I do actually save the charcoal. Sometimes I will...

    Weber Kettle Air leak

Hi Phil, Thanks on all fronts. Those are some really good ideas. We have a ways to go here, but fortunately we are far enough inland that I dont think we will feel the full force of the storm. It is still pretty windy already and lots of rain. Thanks again both for the well wishes and the...
