Will this work on an 18.5 Silver?

Mark, I don't see why it wouldn't work but I think you have to use "fire bricks" as regular bricks will possibly "explode". I don't know where to find them though.

Accidentally turning knobs on my Genesis E-330

Wow, I just realized the original post was from 2012. Don't know why it was brought back up in this fashion. Pete Z doesn't even belong to this board anymore from what I can tell

    My first charcoal grill

Welcome to the forum all you new guys! A lot of very helpful people here I will add to the comment about oven cleaner. It will not hurt the inside or outside of your grill and if you rinse with a little soap and water does not leave a residue. Also to get a better, more efficient clean with the...

    WSM 22.5 water pan

Ive never really had a problem. I have a brinkman pan but never have used it. Some people say the problem occurs if you really load it up for a really long cook. My longest cooks have only been butts so nothing really over 10 hours and just a regular basket of coal is enough. If you were gonna...

    Super pumped

I use photobucket and I think they have an iphone app that you can directly load your photos into it. Or just go to photobucket.com on your laptop, set up an account (easy and free), upload your pictures. When you pull up each picture you will see 4 links on the right hand side. Click the last...

    14.5 WSM notch in seam.

Any pics of it? I am curious to see what it might be

    WSM 22.5 water pan

Also the current water pan in the 18.5 is a little big and the bottom can hit the charcoal in the ring if you load it up for a long cook. The brinkman water pan has a flat bottom, thus giving you more room below it for charcoal. I don't believe this is an issue with the 22.5

Which grill to buy for grilling/smoking?

Welcome to the forum Marcus! There is a friendly and helpful bunch here Let me see if I can answer your questions, at least give my opinion Fuel cost is not bad, if you use wire baskets with your grill you wont go through much. I find the cost of a tank of gas to be ridiculous these days. You...

    Beef ribs help

Glad to hear they came out Grant. I have done beef ribs a couple of times. The first time I read on here not to put too much seasoning on them as they can get overpowered (and salty) quickly. I didn't listen and they had way to much seasoning. The second time I used Weber's steak and chop...

First attempt at BB Ribs on the WSM 18

Like Joe said, if your using the dome thermo you may be well off grate temp. I have seen a 50 degree difference both higher and lower. Also for me, anything I cook at 225 takes FOREVER. I do almost all my q' at 275, though I have been dropping down to 260 some. Its really hard to put an...

First smoke on the WSM - disappointed. Help!

You said you tried opening the door for a few minutes? That always works for me, but sometimes it takes more than a few minutes. Remember when you pour the hot coals on and assemble the cooker, you are choking down the coals and the temps are probably gonna come up slow. Although the temps...

    Set 18.5 in a Washtub

Dave, in my experience, the wind causes more temp fluctuations by blowing up the coals, then letting them cool (wind gusts). More so than cooling the cooking chamber. My wind break is a 3 sided shield that is far enough away from the vents to still allow them to get air, but not the in and out...

How long can a pork butt hold?

I usually clip a clothespin to the grate away from the meat but not too close to the edge. Then I clip the alligator clip to the clothespin so it is about an inch off the grate. (I am using a thermoworks thermo). I feel like I am getting accurate temps. My meat just takes longer cuz you cant...

How long can a pork butt hold?

That's interesting. Everything I cook always takes longer than shorter. And I cook at 250-275 and use a digital thermometer

Found the Grill of my dreams

HaHA, that was good That cart came out great. I have seen those charbroil grills a lot on Cl and thought about doing something similar with my 18.5. Nice work

3 racks baby backs and 7 lb Butt

I would just throw it on the bottom and let it ride, that way you don't have to worry about moving it later. If you don't use water in the pan the lower grate shouldn't be too much less than the upper grate. If you plan for the ribs to come out a little early you can take them off and free up...
