Pork Butt 16 Pounder, what would you do?

A pork butt (aka "Boston Butt") is a pork shoulder blade roast, not the same as a pork shoulder, which I think is also called a "picnic". If you bought pork "butts" and it's a cryo weighing 16 lbs, there are more than likely 2 butts in the cryo each weighing about 8 lbs. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>...

Pork Butt 16 Pounder, what would you do?

It is kyro packed, but I didn't open it. And aren't pork shoulder and pork butts the same thing? Is that the dumbest question ever? Should I assume there are two butts in there? I have never bought one from costco before only small ones from local grocery stores...I THINK it said pork shoulder...

Pork Butt 16 Pounder, what would you do?

Hey All, Going to attempt my first pork butt on the WSM this weekend for a party. Went to costco and picked up a 16 pound pork butt. I wanted to do an overnight cook and have this sucker ready to pull around 4PM the next day...but since it's 16 pounds I am not sure how to schedule this...

    Black Handles?

Awesome thanks! The sales rep I spoke didn't seem all quite there, so maybe I just need a different person to deal with! Thanks!

Can not get temp high enough

Hey Walter, I haven't even used water yet in mine and I have no trouble getting the temps up. Like everyone else said, vents 100% open until you get like 25 or 50 degrees to your desired temp then close your bottom vents to 25% till you hit your desired temp and adjust them from there. You don't...

    Black Handles?

OMG I was just on the phone with Weber for almost a half hour trying to get a set of the black handles...she had no idea what I was talking about! She kept saying "they are grey! they are grey handles!". Richard do you know the part number on them (or maybe order number?)? She was convinced that...

Make your own eyelets/grommets for under $5

Did anyone ever confirm that the ET-732 fits through the Rocks BBQ eyelets? Would two probed fit through?

    help with BB ribs!

It only used to take me around 3 hours on my spirit running it more or less at 250 as long as I foiled for an hour. It might take a little longer on your Genesis because there is more surface area, But I would think around 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Make sure after the hour of foiling the meat has pulled...

    help with BB ribs!

I might be able to help a little..I used to smoke ribs on my Spirit 210...it's not the easiest but it does work. I wouldn't worry about a water pan at all, you can skip that part IMO. Do you have a smoker box? Get the smoke going and smoke at 225-250 for 2 hours, then I usually would foil the...

1st Brisket FAILED, what went wrong?

Thanks Noe! I might not know the feel of "probe tender" yet either. From what I understand the probe should be able to slide in like butter and that is what I waited for. I checked every half hour while it was foiled and when it slid in super easy and effortlessly I pulled it off. I am thinking...

    Grilling & BEER

My favorite high octane beer is Delerium Tremens..gotta be careful with it though cause it's 9% and will knock you on your butt before you know it, but it's so good....my drinking and grilling all day beer is Bud, nothing fancy...I do love all Dogfish Head beers and good call on the aprihop...
