    Fuel Choices

I bought 2 clay plates, the kind you put under potted plants, and put those inside my water pan. Works great, and no water or mess to worry about later.

    Cajun Bandit rotisserie ring question

Rotisserie, just like smoking, is just another way to cook food using charcoal. I think after getting a rotisserie you will find yourself thinking of more and more ways to use it. At least that has been the case for me. I got a WSM and started thinking of different meats to cook on it and then...

    Instant read Thermometers

I just received my Thermopop about 3 weeks ago, like it a lot, and at $21 it didn't break the bank. I agree that $70 or more is more than what I want to pay for a thermometer. If I remember correctly the Thermopop is 1 to 2 seconds slower than the Thermopen. For the difference in price I can...

    Finally getting a rotisserie

Check out Cajun Bandit for rotisseries. They make some really nice ones. If looking just for a motor and spit or basket, One Grill has some great equipment. http://www.onegrill.com http://cajunbandit.com/

Why does Boston Butt cook faster in the oven?

And I thought it was because my neighbors were sneaking over and peaking under the lid to see what I had in there! :wsm:

First Cook Tip - Use CHEAP Meat!

Didn't see the last post until just now, how did it turn out? Only suggestion I would have had for you would have been to keep it out of the wind. I've smoked meats in very cold conditions but always move my smoker to where it's sheltered from the wind. Wind will suck the heat away from your...

    DC Blizzard

I used to have one of those, but it cost a fortune to replace the shoes on one of those. Tires are much cheaper! ;)

    Short Plate Beef Ribs

Yummmmm, I've never tried short ribs on my WSM yet, but everytime I see them on this forum I think that I got to try them some time. Yours look great!

First Cook Tip - Use CHEAP Meat!

I really think pork butt is the ideal first meat to try on WSM. It's inexpensive, the last time I bought some for $1.29/lb. and it takes a long time to finish which gives you time and plenty of practice to learn how your smoker works, like how adjusting the vents changes temperatures, and how...

    Yummmmmmmm! That looks really great!

Where do you get your meat?

Made me laugh, really like your humor! But have to agree, sometimes Walmart is the only place I can find anything. Where I live we have only 1 meat market with limited hours and 1 grocery store and Walmart.

    Finally getting a rotisserie

Chicken is great on the roti, but you'll find out there is a whole bunch of other meats that are also great, turkey breasts, beef rib roast(prime rib), leg of lamb, etc. I walk through the meat section at my local grocery stores and am always thinking how different meats would work with the...

    - How To Avoid Looking Like A Noob When Eating BBQ

Thanks Chris, I was a Noob in Memphis long ago, but I'll never forget the Rendezvous. We stayed at a hotel about a half mile from it and every time we stepped outside the most amazing smell was in the air. I asked the valet where that smell was coming from and he pointed us in the right...

    Aussie Mini WSM

Hello down there! Be sure to include pictures of your mini. I've often thought about making a mini myself but I like my 18.5 so much and the economies of smoking larger quantities that I've never gotten around to making one. I like to load up as much meat on my 18.5 as I can and then freeze it...

    First Cook on New 26in!

You'll love the 26, get a roti for it. We use ours all the time. You're right about the 26 seeming to hold temp even after the coals are gone. I have to keep a close eye on mine and remind myself to check the coals even if the temp seems fine.

    My version of a wsm-table

You're right Jim, this cart looks great. I really like the fact that it's big enough for everything you would need to have but not too big. It's a great looking table/cart combo.
