    My new WSM Grilling Table

Great Job!! Myself I made a table out of an old Silver B I picked up for $25. I wanted a rolling table to use with not only the WSM's but also my grills. Also found an expandable Weber cover that fit like a glove, more luck than planning.

Snow is finally gone, first smoke since December

Well the snow is finally gone, from all but behind my shed. I fired up the 14.5 to do 3 turkey legs. That is what is nice about the 14, it uses so little KBB that I don't mind using it for 3 or 4 legs In the snow picture all my WSM's and the kettle are under the snow, you can see the shoulder...

Looks like Aaron Franklin has a book out soon

No recipes, but then I have so many I don't mind. Yes it is offset only but it gives his mindset and more. I like it so far it was what I was hoping for, too often the books are virtually all recipes.

    22 inch calling to me

Dustin I started with the 22 and found the same thing to cook for 2-5 people it is way too much, unless you are making extra to freeze. I got the 14.5 as a younger brother to my 22 and have never regretted it. Yes I had built a min-WSM out of SJG and the kids that that camping. I like the...

Results of my first WSM cook, lots of questions and pics

To my mind water in the pan or no water in the pan is whatever it takes to maintain your temps. With my 22.5 I have found that without water in the pan I tend to run about 250-275 and hard to get lower even with the vents mostly closed, but with water in the pan can run 225 for hours. Since I...

Epic Fail - first try at kettle pizza on OTG

No extra cost as I already had the firebricks from trying to set up an area for my dutch ovens! I do like that idea I had seen where a guy cut a hole in a kettle dome so he could see the pizza and a "block" in the top to lower the top. I will do it if I can find a free roadside grill or really...

Epic Fail - first try at kettle pizza on OTG

I called it kettle pizza but it was not with any kit, I simply put a stone on the OTG grate and tried making a pizza, left it on way too long, looked great on top! Yesterday I elevated the stone on 2 fire bricks to bring it up into the dome and it worked, 5 minutes, rotated once. The picture of...

Epic Fail - first try at kettle pizza on OTG

I just got done with the pizza, I elevated the stone and let it go 5 minutes with a turn halfway through. Came out great! At the same time I fired up the WSM 14.5 and did legs and thighs, they came out great, It was really windy but you can see the natural wind break, almost 4 feet high, the...

Epic Fail - first try at kettle pizza on OTG

Dale and Cliff Thanks for the advice! I know my firebricks are buried under the snow behind my old New Bruanfels offset smoker, but I do have two of them holding up my Charbroil Big Easy so I will steal them from that and try your set up! I was going to make the dough in my stand mixer but...

Epic Fail - first try at kettle pizza on OTG

The first one went way too long, 15 minutes!! The second should have gone only 4+ minutes, I let it go 7 minutes and didn't rotate it Today I am shoveling out the 14.5 and going to do some chicken as I just got some rub from Harry Soo and want to try it, at the same time I will get a small...

Weber Original Charcoal Pizza Oven (Weber Part No 6520)

I posted the below in another thread, but I thought I would add it here. After seeing these threads I got excited to try pizza myself with a stone I have for the oven. Below is the sad but true outcome. I decided to try a kettle pizza on my OTG. I shoveled it out of the snow and then had one...

Epic Fail - first try at kettle pizza on OTG

I decided to try a kettle pizza on my OTG. I shoveled it out of the snow and then had one of the kids shovel out the KBB, we still have 18 inches of snow on the ground and piles to 3 feet or more. I had a pizza stone so I lit one chimney of KBB and spread it in a horseshoe shape around the...

Spring tomorrow - still can't dig the grills smokers out

Wife won't move and we normally get half this amount of snow. It is not so much the snow I can shovel that off it is the for a high on the first day of spriing! My 14.5 is free now, but busy for the next week, and no money for meat anyway. Probably do chicken sometime this week
