    Weber Q Model Comparison Chart

The Weber US website has all the specs, but the Australian website seems to have a better summary of all the Qs. The only thing is I don't think the 'E' and 'P' versions are available in the US. -Mark.

    Scotch in spritz?

I always spritz with apple juice and Scotch. I never use anything too good, but I wouldn't want to use Glenfiddich even for that. -Mark.

    What's cookin' this weekend???

Salmon today and babybacks tomorrow. I was planning to do pp, but the butcher didn't have any butts, so I had to settle for ribs. I'm going to try foiling them for the first time, following the 3-2-1 method. -Mark.

    Anyone ever smoked rockfish?

I've smoked all kinds of fish, but never rock fish. I always just sprinkle salt on the fish prior to smoking. I haven't ever brined fish. The biggest mistake I ever used was to use hickory for smoke - That batch of fish ended up in the bin. I usually use alder, sometimes with a bit of fruit wood...

    Weber Grill Handle Light

I've got a Weber grill light, and am very happy with it although it isn't blindingly bright. I'm not sure if you could use a bike light because you wouldn't be able to angle it to shine around the grill hood and on to the grate. You would need something with an angled head like this: GrillPro...

    Insulation question

I made this smoker jacket recently: Homemade smoker jacket The materials cost me about the same as one and a half bags of charcoal, and it paid for itself pretty quickly. It saves charcoal even in warm weather, so I'll probably use it all year round. -Mark.

    Orange Marmalade Sriracha Wings

Those look excellent, Jim. I've also been using thighs, and they've come out very well. I've also bee ramping up the sriracha, but my kids (2, 6 & 8 years old) start to complain - I just need to build up their resistance -Mark.

    Orange Marmalade Sriracha Wings

These have been on my to do list for yonks, and I finally got round to doing them today. It was -15C, windy and snowing out, so perfect weather for grilling. When wifey saw me preparing the marmalade sauce she said she definately wasn't going to eat any, but once they were ready and she had a...

    Home Cured Bacon

I recently visited Italy and rediscovered carbonara and it just fueled my bacon addiction. Since then I've been eating carbonara almost non stop. My wife and I make a good team here - I make the bacon, she makes the carbonara, and we both eat it. The smokey flavour of the bacon really adds...

    Gas gauge

I measure how much gas is left in the bottle by looking at it This is my spare bottle, which is full. You can see the level of the gas in the upper 'windows'. Sometimes it can be a bit difficult to see the level, but I find that moving the bottle a little causes the gas to slosh around...

Too cold to Q Fried Chicken

The chicken looks great, but how cold is too cold to Q? -Mark.

    sjs cast iron grate

I sometimes look at cast iron drain grates and think what good grill grates they would make. I wonder if you could find a round one to fit the sj. -Mark.

    q light

I also have one which came as standard on my Q320. As Ken said, it isn't super bright, but it's enough and works well. I would buy one again. -Mark.

Thermapen over constant in meat probe?

I'm also a gadget freak, but the Thermapen isn't just a gadget, it's essential - For grilling - For me For smoking I use an oven probe as it provides a continuous reading without having to lift the lid. -Mark.

    Return of Wood Handles!?!

Call me a heretic, but I quite like plastic handles. I haven't had any problems with them, and I think they look quite nice. -Mark.

Need to leave my bacon home alone

I've got some back backon curing curing in the fridge at the moment. Going by the thickness it should take 6 days, which would mean that it would be ready on Wednesday, but I've just found that I need to go to Italy for a couple of days and will return home on Friday night. My wife will be at...

    Weber Family Portraits

This is the first time any of my Webers have seen any of their siblings: Master Touch Gold, Q320, WSM, Go Anywhere, Smokey Joe Silver. I've separated them again now to avoid any sibling rivalry. -Mark.
