Nomad grill; suitcase-size, cool to touch; only $600

The price, I find prohibitive. Frankly, I am a fan of the Jumbo Joe Weber for my portable adventures. It is a REAL grill and I have smoked on it, too. 18" is big enough to do some REAL bbq, and I use it at home when I need some more cooking area during famiy get togethers. I have even made a...

    Wings

I have used a variety of recipes with excellent results. One of our favorites is to use Weber’s “Kick N Chicken” rub, grill with the Vortex in one of my Performers, then use the Honey, Apricot Preserves, and Chipotle in Adobo finishing sauce. FWIW Dale53

What is the best way to grill corn on the cob?

I MUCH prefer grilling the corn AFTER it has been husked. I grill it direct with the lid off over a medium fire. I keep turning it when needed. When it looks done, it is done. When it is grilled in the husk, it tastes too much like grass to me. FWIW Dale53

Baby backs in packages of three ?

There is just the two of us since the kids left. I always buy a three pack from Costco, I want my ribs cooked exactly the same from one end to the other. I can do this by using two rib racks, cut each rack of ribs in two and put three half racks of ribs on each grate of my WSM’s. Then, all...

    Vortex Question (Pork)

M Craw; I am a Vortex fan, big time! I have the medium and use it in my two Performers. My favorite way to light it, is to use my Performer that has gas lighting - I fill the Vortex with charcoal, with it slid to the side so I can light the gas ignition. I then slide the loaded Vortex until it...

EVERYTHING Sticks to the grate! How can I avoid this?

I have been grilling for a VERY long time. Some years ago, I was watching "America's Test Kitchen" and they started the grill and after it came up to heat (which pretty much burns off the bigger bits), cleaned the food grates, then liberally oiled them with a cooking oil. The method is to simply...

Question on Kingsford Charcoal Level - 26" Weber Charcoal Grill - Gold

Chris, I don't have any experience with the 26". However, one basic principle applies. If the heat is not hot enough or is not lasting long enough, add charcoal. I have a couple of Thema-Smokes. Just keep the probes away from the direct fire/heat. Put them on the indirect side and you will not...

    Loimulohi fish grilling?

The Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest use/used a similar method using a campfire. I have also used that general method to bake bread (wind dough around a short section of stick or small tree limb stuck in the ground around a fire). It actually works quite well. However, not to rain on...

    Grill Not Reaching Full Heat

I went through this same thing with an "off brand" grill after changing the burners. The critical thing is to SLOWLY open the tank valve with all of the burners closed, as LM stated. Some years ago, the propane companies changed the regulator to a new "safety" regulator. It a hose has failed...

    Kettle Pizza

Here's how I do pizza on the grill: https://tvwbb.com/threads/building-a-rack-for-a-pizza-stone.62734/ Did I mention that I LOVE pizza on the grill. We have had friends and family over and had a pizza party where everyone makes their own pizza. It is ALWAYS a hit! We supply the rolled dough...

What are your favorite BBQ tools? Best burger flipping spatula?

I use a large commercial spatula that is sold by Gordon Food Service (GFS). Reasonably priced, stiff enough to truly work, and durable. I use it a lot when I plank salmon or steelhead. It also works perfectly well for hamburgers, etc. Keep on smokin', Dale53 :wsm:

    Crispy Skin

I really enjoy salmon on the grill. However, I always do mine on a cedar plank and leave the skin on the plank (to be scraped off later). We don't eat the skin. Regarding cooking times: that depends entirely on the thickness of the filets. After looking at the particular filet, I grill it...

"Parboiling isn’t the best for bratwurst"

Jim; I'm always happy to read what you have to say. However, I use the beer and sauerkraut method: My favorite way to do brats is to use an aluminum throw away pan with sauerkraut. Put the brats nestled in the kraut. Pour beer into the kraut and brats until the liquid is half way up the brats...

    Beer Brats

Jim; I flat out LOVE doing brats as I have illustrated above! The brat flavors the kraut and vice/versa. You can then use the kraut on the sandwich or, as I often do, eat the brat without bread and use kraut for a side dish. I very often choose to have mashed potatoes and cover the potatoes with...
