    Nor Cal atmospheric river

We've been hoping that you folks in Northern California are making it through all this okay. Down the I-80 road here in the Salt Lake City area we have been getting the leftovers. Our mountains are sure loving it. Be safe. Drink the cheap stuff in the pantry first.

    Chimney starter

At the time that was the standard. April 2014. Geez, almost 10 years and that thing is showing no signs of slowing down.

    Smoky Morning

Looks real good! I picked up a few different bottles of the Kinder's at Costco too. That woodfired garlic is pretty good.

    Chimney starter

Wow that's pretty expensive! I think my Weber chimney starter was about the same $13 or so. EDIT: Just checked, $14.99 from Amazon.

    New Year's Eve Plans?

Happy New Year everyone! It's been raining and cold all day here, so I cooked inside too. I had a nice prime tri-tip in the freezer; cooked it sous-vide and seared it off in a carbon steel pan. I didn't get quite get the sear I would get outside over charcoal, but it was delicious. Watched...

    Pizza … the final frontier

I've done Detroit style in cast iron a few times, always turns out great. Yours sounds like it's going to be terrific. If you overdo it with the ingredients, it just turns into a pan full of 'stuff'.

    What's for Christmas Dinner 2022?

I suggested a few 'nicer' things for Christmas dinner, but my dear family actually requested a smoked pork butt. Sounds like a new tradition may be born. Fine with me.

Any other Type II diabetics out there using Ozempic?

I've only been on Metformin, and had some limited GI issues with that, nothing bad enough to try something else. I've been off Metformin for a year now, and been able to maintain A1C <6 with diet and exercise. I have some family members that tried Ozempic and had some pretty significant GI...

Wanted: 18” WSM water pan equivalent

Chris, if you are able, would you mind reaching out to them about the Brinkman pans? I should have bought one when they were more readily available.

    Turkey Time!

Thank you! The Brussel sprouts were great. To be fair though, they were sauteed in butter and bacon, so the threshold was low.

No Turkey, No Cry…pork baby! Cubano style!

Wow! That just looks outstanding! What a delicious looking meal. I'm drooling over here.

    Turkey Time!

We had dinner with my extended family on Thanksgiving, and I worked yesterday, so today was the day for our own little Thanksgiving dinner. We had a 14.5lb Buterball, and even though it is already injected with stuff, I did a scaled back mini-dry brine for 2 days in the fridge. While I was...

    First crack at smoked bison

Ohhh that looks really good! How was the moisture level? Bison is so lean it's hard to keep the moisture level good.
