    Any Engineers out there

Bill, I missed this until now. The commercial nuclear industry is aggressively hiring young engineers. The codgers like me are retiring in droves and need to be replaced. Does your son have a location preference? Jim

Darwin is alive (well, figuratively speaking) in Maine

Darwin is also spending time in Texas: So who is dumber, the guy who didn't believe the sign and was killed or the girl who jumps in the water after seeing Tommie get grabbed by the gator?

Curious here... how many of you use the lower level on your WSMs?

Every time. I always find something to smoke on the lower level (sausage, ribs, meatloaf) even if the main cook is a single butt or brisket. It's the frugal thing to do.

Top 5 Restaurants: BBQ on Food Network

I agree 100% with Ray. We did a one-day barbecue tour around Greenville, and Skylight came in 3 out of 4. They didn't seem to take any care in the preparation of their product. There was gristle and other unappetizing bits left in the meat.

White Oak Question - Brian Dahl you out there?

Looks like cherry to me or some other fruit wood.

    Steak of the Month

I saw this deal at The Butcher Market earlier today on Groupon and was gong to pass it up. I've bought some excellent meat from The Butcher Market before, including some dry aged steaks. But at $100 for six steaks I didn't think I'd be getting much. Then I looked at the list and it was a...

    St. Louis Cyber Grackles

That's a false accusation Bob. Ted Drewes.

    St. Louis Cyber Grackles

I'd like to hear what the folks in St. Louis are saying about the spying done by the supreme protectors of baseball tradition. It looks really bad to me - worse than Rose or the Black Sox. I've already convicted them (just cuz they're the Grackles), so let's move on the penalty phase of the...

    Weber Heaven

I bought my 22" Homer Simpson Weber Platinum grill at Steins a couple decades ago. They had a pile of them on clearance for $69 or $79 as I recall.

    Weber Heaven

Stein Gardens & Gifts (multiple Milwaukee area locations) has committed a huge amount of space to Weber products. It's ok to be jealous.

You're right Bob. That St. Louis beer might earn me a lifetime ban.

Smallest Bag Of K I've Ever Seen

It would be worth the $4 to me to show up at the P1Gvilion with one as a gift for my host. "There ya go Jim, start grillin." That and some St. Louis beer and an ECB.

Smallest Bag Of K I've Ever Seen

Phil, I was at Big Lots on Monday and saw those too. I almost took a picture, but didn't. You're right. They are tiny. $20 for less than 20 pounds. Wow. Jim

Smoke Day 11 at the P1Gvilion!

Chuck - The Lampe's live in a little piece of paradise. Woods and farmland are behind the manicured lawn. It is extremely tranquil.

Chris, Putting off Smoke Day for the sake of your neighbor. You are a very thoughtful guy. I don't think I'm that nice. Great looking beef. Thanks for sharing. Jim

Smoke Day 11 at the P1Gvilion!

My wife, son & I really enjoyed our afternoon at the Taj Mahal of barbecue in Raymond, Wisconsin. Jim and his wife Liz welcomed us to what was mostly a family gathering and we felt right at home. Great food was served. I'm usually kind of fussy with what I eat, but I enjoyed all the side...
