Good choice. Camp Chef makes an excellent grill and the Pursuit has excellent cooking space for a portable.

Weber improved the casters when they released the Stealth model. Reports say that they’re good casters. I would use them for a while before deciding to replace them.

I describe the smoke flavor as smoother than charcoal. For less smoke flavor use Apple or Cherry pellets. For more smoke flavor use Hickory or Mesquite. Three years ago I replaced a WSM, a performer, and a Camp Chef pellet grill with my EX6. No regrets.

Several people replaced that bolt with a cotter pin. It’s supposed to break if the auger binds up. A buildup of pellet dust at the motor end of the auger is usually the problem

My EX6 body is about the same width as yours. I looked at your specs and the lower cooking grate is about an inch deeper than the EX6. I agree with you on the side mounted pellet hopper. I had that on my Camp Chef and RecTec and it was easier to fill and the pellet dump was more controllable...

When my EX6 was delivered my reaction was the same as you. It dwarfed my Camp Chef although it was only 12 inches longer. All of that space gives you a lot of flexibility. Have fun with your new toy. :D

A year ago I just wanted anther one so I know that feeling. I picked up a Gen1 EX4 with the Gen2 upgrade for $450. It was in excellent shape and the owner delivered it to my house. No regrets.

Download the BILT app and assemble it correctly. Weber also recommends the app. When I transitiioned to the Smokefire I used many of the same methods and cook temp that I used with my WSM. It will do good hot and fast cooks.

It’s a ceramic fuse. You cain’t tell if it’s blown by looking.

Pellet usage is one thing I checked while comparing the two. It wasn’t a precise comparison but my EX6 did burn noticeably more pellets. The EX6 cook chamber has 50% more volume than the EX4 so it makes sense .

Yes! I have an EX6 and an EX4. The EX4 is at my grandsons house. For both grills I bought a 14" deep replacement top shelf and do most of my cooking up there. Yo can pull the shelf out a couple of inches and let your brisket hang over the front and back. It works.

All Smokefires have a hot spot near the middle. Cook that Brisket on the top cooking grate and that s further from the fire. On most grills the left side is cooler than the right side. Just use it like you used a two zone fire on your kettle. The EX4 is big enough for a small family.

I think that it's worth adding that all Smokefires run the same software and firmware. Weber says that it's a software upgrade to the Gen2, which it is. It was also an upgrade to all Gen 1 grills.
