help! I finished the soldering. HM won't boot. Im at a loss at how to troubleshoot

In reverse order.... For 4 thermistor probes you should install all four 100K resistors and all four 10K resistors for the probes. On your boot (or lack there of) the black blocks are what you see when the ATMega on your HM has not been programmed, indicating either the software is not...

    Heatermeter weird issue

that is not true in most circuits, other resistors, charging capacitors, diodes etc can influence the value measured on resistors when in circuit

    Heatermeter weird issue

In most cases you wont be able to measure components value while in circuit due to other devices connected to the circuit, the best you could do is compare readings on the bad unit with readings on a good unit (with power OFF), noted differences might help point you in the right direction. Have...

    Heatermeter weird issue

Good points Gary.... If the outer shield is touching the bare TC wire I could see that causing this issue, and loose tc wires in the connector could do the same. Only thing is, I think he said he tried a couple TC's. I have to say it again for others who may read this thread, I always verify the...

OK, I think you are referring to the fan output bar, which can be split to indicate the fan speed and servo position? That is controlled by code in the "user CSS" section of the HM config... on the main config page at the top click the "user CSS" link, on the page that loads you can add code to...

If it just says "Raspberry Pi" I think that means it is an A or B, B with wired LAN and A without... As far as wired lan, the benefit is that you get your HM working! LOL Connect the rPi wired LAN to network, hopefully DHCP in your router assigns an ip address to the rPi and it is displayed on...

Have you posted exactly what version rPi you are running? I couldn't seem to find that info in the thread.... Since you mention v4.2 HM hardware I am guessing perhaps you have an older rPi with a wired LAN? If so, I would connect the wired lan to your network and connect to the HM web interface...

Run the latest SNAPSHOT release, date May 20 2019 14:47:19 PDT as of right now. Try the Automatic WiFi Client mode build, if that fails to connect try the Access Point build, you should be able to see the HM access point with a smartphone and connect directly, that will give you some idea if the...

    WiFi Help

Try using the HM LCD menu to reset the config, HM should come back online in Access Point mode, at which point you can connect directly to it using a wireless device then login and scan for and connect to a wifi network. If you happen to have a rPi version with a wired LAN you can use it to...

Before I upgrade my 4.0, should I buy a HM? What version HM is this one?

That would have been one hell of a deal for all that HM hardware @ $120! Mod'ing the blower circuit may be a bit daunting, although doable if you are patient and follow the pictures closely..... Adding the R/C filters on the probes is pretty easy though, just cut the traces with a razor and...

Before I upgrade my 4.0, should I buy a HM? What version HM is this one?

To be clear, I am not concerned with the effectiveness of soldering a servo to the ATMega, it does work. The concern I raised was probe noise causing the servo to be overactive. The updates to the HM after v4.0 were made to address this issue.... Voltage mode for the blower is less noisy, R/C...

Have I killed my new build

I haven't followed every post of this thread closely, but if you are saying you have continuity between J2 Pin3 (Pit Probe) and the 100k resistor, and continuity between the other leg of the 100k resistor and pin28 (the corner pin) of the ATMega, then you are saying you have something wrong with...

I think I smoked my board

PS Make sure the rPi isn't hitting the buzzer legs when installed, they are quite exposed there the way it is mounted....

I think I smoked my board

If you are now getting black squares on the display that sounds like you are in the fresh build state, not having the AVR programmed yet. At first boot the rpi should see the blank avr and flash the HM firmware to it, it should then show NO PIT PROBE on the HM display (when contrast is adjusted...

Heatermeter Aux. Thermocouple And two probe board V6.1(Final Version)

yes, there are several options for panel mount 2.5mm jacks... The ones I chose for the Aux thermocouple board are actually panel mount, so they can be used in either the AUX board or in the standard pit probe configuration without the AUX board. . The picture at Mouser for the probe jack on the...
