    Recycled Charcoal Question

Same as others... recycle unused briqs for next time I grill (they go in first to bottom of chimney, followed by fresh lumps), each smoke is always started w/ new brigs though

    Warming Rack Info

Seems to be the same as the BGE half-moon that I got for my Performer... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007HQWBS4/?tag=TVWB-20 Except the price is alot cheaper :)

    Need An Opinion...Kettle Bowl Damage

Thanks for the tip... I often bank coals to one side (same side as in pics - where the lid holder is)... going to check when I get home :)

    Weber Charcoal Pizza Oven

Yeah I got the KettlePizza too and had to add firebricks all around and on top to really make it into more of an oven... problem is, that's quite a bit of work so you are better off almost "dedicating" a kettle to do just that because the setup/takedown takes awhile lol Agree that this looks...

    Craycort questions

I'm pretty sure I had posted this before in a thread somewhere but I can't seem to find it thru the Search function so I'll be brief here. For temporary storage of the craycort while you're accessing charcoal I made a holder out of scrap wood and an old rusty 22.5 cooking grate Could've...

    Craycort grates & grilling salmon

Congrats on your Craycort purchase! Everybody's got their methods and preferences but for me, I like crispy salmon skins so when I grill, I do the filets with the skin on, just a touch of oil on the skin side, cracked peppers and just a bit of mustard powder on the other side. Off it goes on...

    Got a Ranch Kettle

Awesome find Lawrence! Hope you stock up on charcoal too as this beast looks like it would easily devour an entire bag without even flinching

I don't get it, but I really like it

Do you think this has anything to do with grease/oil dripping down onto the coals while cooking that helps the used coals to burn a bit hotter? Just thinking out loud here... Of course, the grease/juice dripping onto the hot coals, vaporizing and coming back up into the food is one of the...

    Stocked up

I've only been asked once to see it, and pay taxes . These are mostly all day trips so of course I have no dutyfree limits but been pretty lucky so far. Lowe's Bellingham (one exit south of Bellis Fair) is where I usually go. If they don't have it in stock then it's the next one off of I5 -...

    Stocked up

LOL sorry I don't have a secret store/source... as you all know Stubb's is only available down in the States... So everytime I make a drive south of the border I try to pick up a few bags from Bellingham This makes for intriguing conversations at the border: Officer: what did you purchase for...

    Caste Iron Grates recommendations? Updated!

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by PaulFisher: Those CrayCourts look very nice however I'm wondering how much of a pain it is to take them out to use the starter on the performer...

    Caste Iron Grates recommendations? Updated!

I got the Craycorts too and could not be happier with my purchase. Maintenance isn't too bad considering I do pretty much the same as with a regular grate: at end of cook, burn the crap off, and brush clean. Only difference is the additional few min. to "touch-up" with some oil at the end...

    Satisfaction of BBQ'ing (smoker comparison)

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by Len Dennis: Sort of like driving (with a stick shift) vs steering (with an automatic) </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Funny you should mention that, because I...

    getting grill really hot

I got mine to probably around 800-850 with one full lit chimney + 1/2 chimney unlit lump + 2 fist-sized chunks of wood The fire was so hot the plastic of the slide-aside lid holder on my performer melted

How'd you get into barbecue? *****

Like quite a few of you here, I started tinkering around on camping trips making food outside of a kitchen at home. Eventually graduated from the el-cheapo hibachi used during camping to a 22.5 kettle and knew even back then as a young lad I would always prefer to cook over a live fire. What...

    Bring back the OTP/Jumbo Joe

I was lucky enough to get a Jumbo Joe too (and I have a SJG)... loving the Jumbo for a quick grill job (instead of firing up the performer) and my SJG is 100% fulltime mini smoker now. My cooking grate is in good condition now but who knows 10 years down the line? Would love the option to...

S J. Gold Mini WSM Smoker

Thanks to everyone's help on this page I was able to construct my mini smoker I bought the Vasconia 32qt tamale steamer from Amazon and it's a perfect fit (thank you Ruben Z for the tip): My original plan was to cut the bottom off then after reading feedbacks from others decided to...

Recently joined the CI Club (got the Craycort for my Performer)... been a long-time lurker and finally registered! Everyone on this board is helpful and I still have lots to learn! Anyways, love Love LOVE the CI grates... first cook on it was chicken thighs + corn in husks and was able to cook...
