Went to see Gordon Lightfoot last night

I saw Gord about 10 years back and his high notes were long gone, still great though. There is an interesting about him on Roku, tubi and a couple other channels.

    Turkey Wings

I've been doing 6-8 at a time, brining overnight and smoking @ 225-250 degrees. Then use them like a healthier version of a pork hock in soups and stews.

    Pam???

I agree with James O'Brien, get the Misto. I have three, one for cooking oil, one for EVOO, and one a light spritz of vermouth in my martini.

    Instant read Thermometers

'Get the best, cry once' "Thermopen is having an open box sale - "only" $69. Same warranty as new." Well, heck, that just cost me 69 bucks, it's on the way! And orange is the fastest, Right?

I like it simple. Good quality tuna coated with evoo and sesame seeds grilled rare over a hot as possible fire. Served with wasabi and dark soy

    Need a new grill

We received a Kenmore for a wedding present back in 1990, and it rotted out right around 7 years also. Bought a new Weber Genesis right after that and it is still going strong today. I've only had to replace the flavorizer bars. Two years ago I bought a stainless Performer off of Craigslist...

    Cold smoking in the WSM

Geir, we will have to agree to disagree on this. I love the flavors that come from smoking and grilling foods, however that does not include poisons like lead (solder) or acids (flux)no matter the amount.

    Smoked salt??

I used to buy smoked salt in the grocery store for years. I've been smoking my own for a while now using the soldering iron and tin can method in my weber kettle. I use sea salt because I think the irregular contour takes the smoke better, and put it on a cheap Walmart wire splatter shield...

    Cold smoking in the WSM

You should use a new soldering iron for this, they are less then $10. You don't want fumes from solder etc in the food . I've had a lot of luck using a soldering iron and tin can in my weber kettle, especially with cheeses. Like Dave said, just a shake every 1-2 hours and add some more...

Chimney & Paper Towel w/ Veg Oil

At home I use the performer and a chimney, but at the cabin (no performer yet, just a kettle) I've been using one of these: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obi...N/B00004SPZV/tvwb-20 Misto sprayers for a couple of years. They are great in the kitchen to replace the pam type of sprayers and save...

    Performer ignition issue

Brian, I bought an older ss performer off of CL last year. The igniter wasn't working so I gave it a shot of penetrating lube to make it easier to remove. I gave the old igniter one more try, it worked and has been working ever since.

OK, chimney or lighter fluid; when is the appropriate time

I used to make my own chimneys from coffee cans. And I remember the day my high school biology teacher came to class with no eye brows or lashes and a interesting new hairdo. He said he was talking with his neighbor and wasn't paying attention to how much lighter fluid he put on the briquettes.

    Tear Jerker's *****

I've got a couple to recommend. First, the late great Steve Goodman's "My Old Man". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW7xR7WkyTU The second is not a song, but Jimmy Stewart reading a poem he wrote about his dog Beau. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUNJjIwlHk8

Picked up a CL Performer Friday, need some gas assist advise.

Well, with the lack of replies here I've been feeling like I'd farted in church. But that's OK. As I was cleaning up the performer I found that even though the 5# tank does not have the proper shaped handle it does have a label on the tank stating that it does have an opd valve. Had it filled...

Picked up a CL Performer Friday, need some gas assist advise.

Hi all, Long time griller, long time lurker on this site, there is so much good info here. Now I am in need of some advice please. I picked up a '96 green Performer off of Craigslist this weekend. It's in pretty good shape, needs a little paint, new cleaning system, grates, TLC, etc. But I...
