    my new mini wsm

yup..I liked your stainless drawer pull for the top vent..so I picked up one of those, and then I did weld my expanded metal basket together, otherwise I was going to crimp the edges over like you did, but my welder was sitting here, so......we welded.

Ok.....here are some photos of my new WSM MINI build. Pretty much standard construction of what everyone else does...used all stainless steel hardware, and a 12 inch clay pot base for the diffuser.

Chad..I think that's what I'm gonna do...tomorrow I'll finish a little with the wet sanding..and call it good...wipe it all down again, let it dry a bit, and then go with the top coats and call it good. I'm not doing any decal or stencil, so no clear coat needed. :)

    my new mini wsm

THanks guys...After about 20 minutes with an "F" style clamp and slowly clamping and pinching all the way around, I got the lid to fit....Right now it's a nice tight fit, I may do a little more pinching so the lid removes just a tad easier..But I am happy with the results. I do appreciate the...

    my new mini wsm

Hey guys. I just acquired all the "pieces parts" needed to assemble my own mini wsm. I got the Smokey Joe Gold, a 32 quart IMUSA tamale steamer pot, etc etc. I got it pretty much all put together, and the base of the pot fits perfectly and snug into the smokey joe gold base......BUT...the...

my first smoke on my new WSM!

I cheated and used royal oak briquettes in the chimney, as a starter...then poured those into the center of the lump in the WSM. Dan

my first smoke on my new WSM!

Well, thought I'd post some photos for you all to see my new smoker in action. I did some Lime Smoked chicken wings. Wings soaked in keylime juice, tarragon and rosemary overnight..then cooked at 200F for 90 minutes. I used the IQ110 on it, I bought and it performed flawlessly..and kept the...

my first cook on my WSM 18.5

Awesome..now that's what I am talking about...I just got a couple tubes of Black high temp sealant..and ran a bead all around the smokers door, and flattened it down to about 1/16" thick...now the door seals up nicely and even locks nice and tight. I maybe put a bead around the lid and base...

New WSM 22.5 -- bend door?

I was at my local DIY store today..and picked up two tubes of High Temp silicone gasket sealant..you can find it in the wood stove, fireplace sections.....I am going to run about a 1/8" bead of it along the entire inside of the WSM door....this stuff stays flexible, and so will act as a...

Ok...well it was the first smoke..so I'll give it a few more before I attempt to do anything to change it. Dan

my first cook on my WSM 18.5

do you think some type of "silicone gasket" around the inside perimeter of the door would be a good idea to really help seal it up good? I am thinking maybe glueing a rubber silicone gasket maybe 1/16" or 1/8" thick around the inside of the door that touches the smoker body and that would seal...

my first cook on my WSM 18.5

Tim...once my temps hit 230F...I closed down 2 bottom vents completely, and the third one I left open maybe a 1/4" max. Top vent full open. I did bend the door to fit a bit better..but there is still a small gap along the top edge I have a brinkman pan in for water, and it was 3/4 full of...

my first cook on my WSM 18.5

Hi everyone Well today was the day. I decided to smoke up a couple Stuffed Pork Loins. First stuffed both loins..one with Bleu Cheese and bacon, and the second with Cheddar, chives and bacon...butcher twined them shut, and went out to start up the smoker. so....filled the coal ring 3/4 full...
