WSM...Can you smoke/BBQ in the rain?

Hi All, mothers day approaching, and was going smoke some beef ribs. It is supposed rain most of the day on Sunday in NY. What is the best way to handle this? Do I have to put up a tent? Can you smoke in the rain? (Probably not because the briquettes might get wet. Options? Ideas?

Racks for smoking Beef Ribs on WSM

I saw that, however, the Beef Back Ribs are so large, I am pretty certain they will not fit. I was thinking about perhaps a rib rack to just stand them up side by side

Racks for smoking Beef Ribs on WSM

Hi All, I have started to get into Beef Ribs w the Long Bone. How can I fit more on at one time? Those long Rib racks are huge. I can only fit around 3 racks on the WSM 22" (Top and bottom) and still have to cut them. Are there any racks that are best for the long beef ribs?

    Weber briquettes vs. Kingsford

OK, glad I found this thread. I must be doing something wrong. Recently purchased a WSM 22. I use the Weber briquettes (also from Lowes @ $11.99). I filled the the ring with Weber briquettes to the top, lit 25 briquettes in the chimney and poured it on top once, and also created a pit in the...

    WSM noob with charcoal issue

So as a newby myself w a 22.5, I started with the BBQ Chicken using weber briquettes. It came out a bit too smokey for me. I started with a chimney full of lit coals, and then added another 1/2 unlit and waited for them all to get grey. Once I got the temp up with the wood smoking, I put the...

Smoke pouring out of new WSM 22"

Thanks. I just tried the BBQ chicken because it was mentioned as a good starting point. In the future, I am not going to bother with hi temps. I have a nice Weber 650 for that. Going to stick to the Low n Slow on the WSM. in regards to the BBQ Chicken, I lit a whole chimney of Charcoal and...

Smoke pouring out of new WSM 22"

Hi All, newbie here. So far I have barbequed 2 whole chickens at high temp. That did not go so well. The temp was fine for a bit, then took a nose dive below 300. I through in extra briguettes, but that might have delivered too much smoke causing an extremly smoky flavor...

    I Just bought a WSM 22.5"....Now What?

Actually, I meant the deck is up against the house. I would have it about 9 Ft away from the side of my house, but on a wood deck with wood railings. It is Cedar and a bit old and dry. Should I be concerned about and flames perhaps igniting it?

    I Just bought a WSM 22.5"....Now What?

Hi again, If I am putting my WSM on a wood deck against the house, do I need to be worried about flames, heat, burning siding or the deck? What precautions should I take before during and after a cook.

    weber charcoal sale

Ha. Thanks for this. Yes, my first time. I have mainly used my Summit 650 for smokng ribs. Temp was easy to monitor, but the smoke thing never really worked well. I was going to ask since I have heard it takes a few cooks to get consistent temps. Would you suggest perhaps starting with BBQ...

    weber charcoal sale

lol on the lid. My understanding about the water is that it acts as more of a heat shield, and keeps the heat at bay. I will probably just foil the water bowl it would be cool if they made a disposable tray that just fit inside of it. I will probably dump the whole bag in like you say and heat...

    weber charcoal sale

Great Info. I am looking for hassel free, so if the Weber Briquettes allow me a steady low and slow burn for 12+ hours from one bag, that is good. Use the Minion method with the whole bag? 1 Chimini filled unlit, and another lit? What is the best for low n Slow w these briquettes in your...

    I Just bought a WSM 22.5"....Now What?

Great info all. Thanks. I tried to do a general search on the main page but didn't find anything specific about this. Remember I have the 22" in case it matters 1. If I only need to use the top or bottom grate for cooking, which one do you use? 2. On all the examples, I see everyone using the...
