    My 'New' 1981 Smokey Joe

My best friend has the same model older smokey joe with the three vents on the bottom. It cooks steaks on our fishing trips like you wouldn't believe. Much better airflow for searing than the modern smokey joes. You have yourself a winner. One small caution. The legs are a little wobbly so...

4 Racks of Spares in a 22.5" Kettle?

Joe, As far as the rotation I think it depends on your method. If all your coals are one one side then you may want to rotate a few times. If you use coal holders/baskets on both sides you may not have to rotate at all.

4 Racks of Spares in a 22.5" Kettle?

I have done it many times on a kettle. The only issue to me is the ribs overhanging the drip pan. You can foil the edge of your coal grate or just make a commitment to clean up the mess sooner rather than later. I am a firm believer in cleaning up by the morning after a greasy cook.

    Check out this Bar-B-Q-Kettle Resto

I love this post. It shows the excitement a common guy can have grilling and smoking for friends and family. To me this is the essence of Weber cooking. I think there are many good grills/smokers out there but the quality/availability of Webers at their price point is amazing. Then after...

    drip pan replacement

I use one almost all the time. Many times I put about 36 oz. of water or so in it to aid in clean up. Just used one for ribs this afternoon in my 98 Mastertouch.

    Weber Summit Silver B

I picked up a Craigslist Weber Summit Silver B. It is a four burner model with a side burner. It has cleaned up very nicely and I am excited to grill on it this evening. Everything looks to be working very well. I do have a question though. Is it worth it to buy the burner assemblies and...

    Weber Smokey Joe 10001?

That is a great grill. My best friend has one and we use it on fishing trips. With the three vents you can really get some nice high temps for cooking a beautiful steak. The legs are a bit wobbly so be careful but the airflow makes up for it. You have a winner. Please do what it was made to...

Beer Simmered Brats on the OTS

Thank god I am a true Minnesotan so I can use some beer with my brats. I seared some nice local meat market brats and then simmered in a bath of Schell's Pilsner (Awesome beer out of lovely New Ulm, Minnesota. Second oldest brewery in the country) with onion. Put the brat and the simmered...

    charcoal bins or not?

I love to use my bins on my Mastertouch. Have used them for almost every cook since '99. I feel for indirect use that they really help to save fuel. Two bins by each other are also great for searing meats.
