You Ever Hear of Charcoal Steaks?

Bill steaks look awesome juicy & great grill marks. See that you used a grill grate. I have one too and also makes great grill marks but noticed that the grill grate seems to take away some of the charcoal flavor from the meat, which I love so much. That is why I generally cook and grill on cast iron grates. Would love to hear your opinion on this subject?
thanks,
russ

I have not noticed that Russ, it seems to taste the same to me, you are still cooking with charcoal. I guess what you have forced me to do now is to do two steaks side by side on the OTG using just one plate of the GG and the grill grate on the other. I would have to eat both mind you. Well in the name of advancing cookery I'm in.

Good looking cook, and thanks for taking one for the team with them two steaks.;)

There is a real Old Time Butcher Shop near me that carries nothing but prime grade meats and ages them for many weeks.
Would it be possible to get some info on this shop? I'm about 45 minutes from Whitehouse Station and would like to check this place out for those occasions when I can squeeze prime grade into the budget.

Bill, if that's what you want to do that would be a cool test. I even thought about long-gating the little holes in the grill gate to see if more charcoal flavor would pass thru the grate, but haven't done so at this time. Can't wait to hear & see how your test comes out. Maybe it's just my taste buds. Alot of people think I'm full of BS anyway. LOL

I use 2 plate of the Grill Grate on the kettle. Charcoal and smoke flavor come through fine that way. I think that if you cover the majority of the grill with the Grill Grates that you might get a little less flavor because of the reduced air flowing through the little holes. They work well for me, and would not trade them for anything else that I have seen yet. Your test will be interesting.
