WSM an extra 4 years old ?

I bought my WSM new in December of '06, so I always figured it would be an '06.

I checked for a date code (which was missing on a couple vents) and it's DU, an '02.

It was the last one the hardware store had, but still think it's odd it was there for 4 years. Maybe this is common ?

It's not uncommon.

Another TVWBB'er recently found discontinued 18" SJ's on a hardware store's upper shelf.

According to the WSM History page, the 2880 model essentially remained unchanged from 2000~2008.

Thanks, I wasn't too worried about the age, as it was still brand new. Just thought it was odd it sat there for 4 years.

Ace Hardware is still selling 2820 WSMs even though they've not been manufactured for 2 years now. Who knows how many are out there in inventory somewhere.

Regards,
Chris

And at only $150!! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Hah! A small local ACE has a "DE" 2820 on the floor but at the new price!

I pointed out to the 'manager' that it was an older model that sold for $179 and that the new one's had the same features as 22's. All I got in return was a shrug.

I saw none in boxes.

That is the one I got for $150! I thought they had it marked wrong because it showed a regular price of $179 and marked it down to $150 and thought I got a steal, but then figured out it was the old model. Still cooks good though! And they had to go to the back room for a boxed one.

If I could find an old model WSM for $150, I'd pick it up. I don't think the new one is worth another $150.

Now the 22 on the other hand... probably worth it for me.
