WSK dripping onto my deck

I decided to smoke three pork butts at once on the WSK. I guess there was enough moisture in there to see it start to drip from a couple of spots where the lid meets the bowl while it was still closed and hadn't been opened since the meat went on. Is this a normal thing that anyone else has seen? I'm not thrilled that I have some light staining, though I will be using a grill mat going forward.

Just curious about what others have experienced. Thanks!

A grill mat is a good idea.

I've never had that happen, yet my climate is much dryer than NC.

What was the pit temp when you were smoking ? Maybe it was low enough where there was some condensation inside the dome. If the pit temp was 225F with water boiling at 212F the dome may have cooled the moisture enough to condense on the inside of the dome.

Actually.... very good point! Target was 225 but it did get down around 210-215 while I slept, so it makes sense that the water evap off of the pork didn't evaporate enough! I think that's it! Thanks!

Also, it did happen to be the only time this has happened to me, and also the first time the grill was under 225 for me at any time on any cook.

Buy 4 12x12" concrete pavers and set on the ground, not recommended to set on wooden decks especially on overnight cooks, we love ya and want to see you posting great cooks for a long time ;)
