WSC OG in Hayward FS - not mine

I’m pretty set on am S6 one day.

Having some work done at the house and when we get back my plan is to thin out all my grills.

Already gave away my WSM and a MT kettle.
What is the box on the side of those grills? Is there anything in there beside a control valve?

The wart holds the gas canister. The OG has a gas ignition to make it a higher end and more expensive grill. The WSK removed the wart and lowered the price, a lot.

At $700 you could probably sell it and get your money back if and when you decide to upgrade?

someone should buy it. its worth $900 on a flip. too far for me to drive to it.
Right after I joined this forum, I found a local (10 miles away from me) Craigslist ad for a WSC grilling center in good condition for $1k.

I didn’t know anything about the WSC, and thought it was expensive, and many members replied that it was a great price and I should get it.

“If you don’t like it you can easily resell it and get your money back” was what piqued my interest.

I replied right away but it was already sold.

That started me doing research and I realized that if I was going to cross over to charcoal, I might as well go all in.

A month or so later I found someone selling a never used WSC grilling center about 3 hours drive.

It was Sunday night and I handed my phone with the Craigslist ad open to my wife, expecting her to just dismiss it.

She read the lengthy description and looked at each photo, handed me the phone back and said “if you want it, go get it”

The next day we drove out to rural Pennsylvania with my daughter and bought it.

The first cook my wife said “I love the smell of charcoal burning”. I just laughed- married over 30 years and never knew that.

So far we have all thoroughly enjoyed the new addition.

How much was it if the other one you missed out on was $1k?

I am the beneficiary of the wsc that was originally screenshotted! I just got a kettle the week before as my foray into charcoal grilling but saw this post on Craigslist and everybody was raving about the wsc so decided to pull the trigger. Final price was settled at $600

Now I’m trying to sell the kettle + slow and sear…

nice steal at $600. welcome to the party. it's a very fun party. no controllers that die or crap themselves. no augers to break. no software to update. bliss.

Yep i was initially looking at an electric smoker or pellet grill cause i was intimidated by the charcoal. Upon researching more, however, it sounded like (with proper practice and technique) you can keep smoking pretty hands off on charcoal as well. Excited to learn more and hone my skills with you all. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Eric,

There are a number of threads that have the tag "wsk". Here's a link to find them.

my .02 of advice is get to know the grill, make small adjustments as you learn temp control and don't sweat the small stuff.

Cheers !
