Wow! Ya'll aren't kidding about the wind!

Fresh breeze here today (steady at 15, maybe gusts to 25?). Temps shooting up (over 400) and down (300) each time a stiff breeze comes in from the south. I've rigged a few pieces of sheet rock to protect it, but wow!

Tomorrow's chore: Build a wind break.

A wind break helps ...but, IMHO, a heat sink in the ol' H2O pan is even more important...as an example H2O can't get hotter than 212*...i.e.230-240* is as hot as you'll ever see on your Weber dome therm....on a cooler, windy day the dome therm will prolly only show 200* but it'll still be 220-230* at the top grate.....piece o'cake

Sand, bricks, etc will keep it stable as well....

I read most folks saying the rack was 10-15 degrees cooler than the lid temp. I had a slight breeze today and lid temp only read 200 maybe. I think I need to get a probe on the rack to see what's going on.
