Would that this ad were true

While I don’t have time to drive any distance, I am still on the lookout for a Spirit three-burner like the one in this ad. It was when the Spirit was still essentially based on the Genesis Silver but had added trim to “modernize” it. I am hoping to use one as a platform to mount my leftover Snap-On fiasco parts and try to get my $ back. I think this design has the best potential for a cost effective melding, especially since I have lots of Genesis parts that I can use. The stainless looks right, and with the Snap-On parts covering the doors, black parts painted red, and substituting a red hood, I think it will look pretty good.

Anyway, I loved this ad where he says that Webers “never rust or fall apart.” I wish that was true:rolleyes:!

Jon: One of those was one of my first rehabs. I sunk too much money in it but I still came out ahead. The rusted out drip pan system was one of the big expenses. However I don't remember the inside of the cabinet being all rusted out.

Theres a SE one on facebook here in oakland ca for 25 bucks... was thinkin of snaggin it. But hes non responsive, and my exp with these newer webers i still find lacking. Tho tbe e/w burners are nice

I don't think these are anywhere near the best Weber made, but I like that underneath it still has the classic Weber design - and part interchangeability. More importantly for my attempt to salvage my "Snap-On" decorative parts, I think this one's more modern design - especially the stainless table with painted trim edges and the doors on the bottom - lends itself well to adapting the Snap-On parts to make something that goes together. It would also work on a Genesis 300 series grill, but I prefer using the classic Weber design. Hopefully could use a red hood, too. I just need to bring it in cheap so that I can get my $ out and hopefully some profit:eek:!

Ya def a cool project grill... the guy still hasnt hit med back with a msg yet. At 25 bucks for a SE im still thinking bout it... the SE should have stainless flavors and grates.... Im just too fond of the less flare ups with the double rows of flavorizers... tri tip is my fave cook, and can get hot with all tha fatty goodness
