For anyone looking for wood in the O.C. I just got back from here The Woodshed, Man What a find

Large burlap bags of cooking wood all kinds, only 12 bucks for a sack of maple!

Chris, if you think this should go in the "Trading post", please move it.

Bill, I'll be in my office in Brea in a couple of weeks and want to pick-up some wood for Ed C. and myself while there at The Woodshed. What would you estimate the $12 "sack" of wood weighs? For some reason I'm thinking about 25 lbs. Thanks in advance.

25lbs seems about right, Give them a call as there supply and price do fluctuate. Mike will be happy to talk your ear off

Maple

I think I'm going to pickup some Alder, Apple, Maple, Red Oak and Pecan.

Took my son to look at a college in the O.C. and made a detour to the Woodshed. I picked up a large sack of red oak and a large sack of wine barrel chunks. I don't know which to try first.

Bill, pretty cool huh. I really wanted to just kind of hangout and walk around but was a bit in a hurry. Did he say anything about his sale? I'm going down in two weeks and plan on picking up some more wood. The wine chunks smell wonderful!

He didn't mention a sale. If he has one, I may have to go back and pick up some more wood.

Well, I just got my Woodshed sale flyer in the mail today, it only lists a sale on firewood and excludes some varieties, it does suggest you come by and check out his cooking wood selection. Maybe a phone call with a question...

Another successful trip to The Woodshed last week. I love that place! This time the owner was there and walked me around the place, it's like smoker heaven there. Asked about what kind of wood I was using and on what. I mentioned I was quite fond of cherry and he immediately told his guy to start looking for some cherry to bring in and said he'd have some on my next visit. I picked up some additional red oak and some apple while there.

If you're in the area I highly suggest stopping in. Good selection and even better prices, you won't be sorry.

So I was at corporate this week which means in addition to having a front row seat for the earth quake (our offices are less than 15 miles from the center of it) I stopped by the The Woodshed, yea!!!!

Last time I was in there I mentioned to the owner that I liked cherry wood, well, what do you know, this visit he had plenty of cherry for me. They're running a sale right now, if you purchase two bags of wood you get a bag of grape vine free. Anyone ever smoked with this? I also picked up some pecan in addition to the cherry.

Mike (the owner) was asking me about charcoal and what I liked as he's getting more and more smokers in and wants to expand his products for us. I told him about Rancher and he's going to look into getting a semi full of it! That would be awesome, I'd be able to pick-up my wood and Rancher each time I'm in the office. OC looks like you're getting a Rancher connection!!

Anyway, if you're in the OC or happen to travel through the area I'd recommend stopping by and visiting The Woodshed, great wood and good people. If you stop in mention this website, he'll take very good care of you.

I know it's an old thread, but I'll tell you what. Been getting my wood from the Woodshed for the last 2 years, I happen to live 3 miles from there. Anyway was running low so I made a run over there last week and picked me up 4 sacks, Red Oak, Apple, Cherry, and Grape vine. Great place, and the nicest people.

Thanks for reviving this old thread.
I'm starting to shop around for some firewood as I'm very close to completing my wood-fired pompeii brick oven. I will definitely check out the Woodshed as I am located near downtown L.A.
BTW, is there anything closer for me in L.A.?
