Wood Bark

I received a shipment of peach and cherry wood chunks this week. Almost all of the pieces have bark on them, some more than others. Is it bad to leave the bark on for smoking, or should I remove it? Seems like it would be a real pain to take all that bark off....

It's a matter of personal preference. Most people seem to leave it on because a) they can't tell a difference, and b) it would be a pain to remove it, like you said.

Thanks for the replies. The peach bark is very thin, so I will leave that for sure. The cherry seems a little thicker, so maybe I'll try and get that off.

Ted I don't bother to take the bark off my cherry (or any other wood for that matter) for the two well stated above forementioned reasons.

Just cant find a good reason to do it and it sdosent seem to afffect taste.. Maybe you want to take it offf some and try it without bark and with bark and see if you ind a difference. Ceteris Parabis of course (latin for all things being equal)

Plus if there's any little critters living in there... Bonus flavor !
